Journey to the Summer City

The cool days of spring have given way to the warmth of summer, bringing the dwarves of Citadel Hoarfrost forth from their mountain home to buy and sell goods throughout the surrounding lands. On the Cold Road, one such party of young dwarves makes their way toward the summer city of Bildoobaris with a wagon of glacial mead for trade. It is a simple enough task, but sometimes it's the simple tasks that cause the most problems.

Journey to the Summer City is a 2-hour Forgotten Realms™ adventure for a party of five 2nd level dwarven adventurers set in the lands of Narfell in northeastern Faerûn. In addition to the 9-page adventure, the download also contains printable battle maps for each encounter and five pregenerated characters to expedite play.

This adventure is part of a loosely connected series that includes the titles below. You do not need to have played any of the other adventures to enjoy this one.

Journey to the Buried Vale
Journey to the Summer City
Journey on the Long Road
Journey to the High Country

A new adventure supplement, Journey to the High Country, is available now. Journey to the High Country is a supplement for the DMs Guild™ adventure, Hand of the Wychlaran. The supplement ties the adventure presented in Hand of the Wychlaran to the DMs Guild adventures, Journey to the Buried Vale, Journey to the Summer City, and Journey on the Long Road. Really small details about the stat block for Malex the Great:
-Saving throws should show the total including the prof. bonus, should show: 'Saving Throws Str +5, Con +3'
-Skills should show the total including the prof bonus, should show: 'Athletics +5, Intimidation +3'

My very first glance I was confused on his save DC and why it wasn't DC 13 (based on Str), but then saw that the player makes the skill check and not a saving throw, so he adds his Athletics. It's a good way to speed up the contest and give Malex a better feeling of being a pro wrestler, and I will look to use this type of stuff in similar situations.

All in all, great work!

Just a few things I noticed and sharing as per your request. :)

Adventure Hook Section (page 2) - While Journey to the Buried Vale (Journey to the Summer City?) was specifically designed for a party of 2nd level dwarven adventurers

Talking with Marl the Pig Man (top of right half of page, first sentence) - Marl has information concerning Valin's disappearance, but he will not give it up willing (willingly?).

Possible information from Marl section - He has seen one of the ruffians who brought him Valin; (Valin's?) body playing dice in a gambling tent

Close the Adventure Section (page 6) - With (the?) brigand leader dead and Valin's spell components retrieved, you are now free to return to Citadel Hoarfrost.

Thanks for your help Lyrra! I’ve updated the PDF with the corrections you noted. I certainly envy professional game designers, because they have editors.

There is indeed one more adventure planned with the crew from Citadel Hoarfrost. I’m working on it now, but since it was only in outline form when I started, it will likely be several weeks before it’s complete. Collectively, all three adventures should take a party of five characters from 1st to 3rd level.

Finally, thank you very much for the review. Reviews mean a lot to everyone submitting content here, and positive reviews like yours are what keep us pounding away at the keyboard!

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
