Do you think that for all the talk about the Three Pillars, 5e is severely lacking in anything but combat abilities? This product aims to fix that as a simple add-on to the core rules. It doesn't change any other aspect of the rules, it just adds a new layer to them.

All character classes gain Ribbons -useful and maybe powerful abilities for the Exploration pillar- at 2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th and 18th levels. Since these abilities don't have direct combat application, they won't mess with balance.


Inside you'll find more than 100 Ribbons like these:

Fast Crawl
There's no such a thing as "crawling speed" to you as you move fast and easily through the underbrush. You may crawl (move while prone) at your normal speed.

Riddle Master
You are pretty good with philosophy and riddles. You have advantage on Intelligence checks made to solve mysteries and riddles of all kind.

Smell Innocence
You can smell innocence like a shark can smell blood on the water. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks to locate innocent creatures, like children, virgins and pets..


And many more. There are 10 Ribbons for each class from the Player's Handbook, plus 10 for the Artificer of Alancia. These rules also work great with our 5e Classless rules, and were, indeed, used together in our games!

These are somewhat hilariously unbalanced. The ability to cast teleport is rated the same as Resistance to swarm damage. Alright then.

This is amazing and merits more attention from would-be players and DMs who get turned off from D&D by players and sessions that are 90% combat.
There is so much more to D&D than just "I hit you, you hit me... war of attrition on our AC...". If you want that, just go play a vidya game instead of trying to play a longhand version of Diablo.
Well done, please keep contributing such flavor to a community often bereft of fresh ideas and stylings.

I am sorry but most of these are NOT ribbons. They give a clear mechanical advantage, mostly on the same level than a racial trait.
But worse, some do pose a balancing problem when they replicate existing class features.
Get me clear: I'm not saying this is bad work (I'm thinking quite the contrary): that could be really useful when following your rule if we want to add more granularity or depth to a character. And quite a few qualify as ribbons (fast crawl, for example).
But you should not call them "ribbons" because they aren't. Minor features would be much better as a name.
And it's not a problem of semantic: I paid for 100 ribbons not 100 minor features. ;)

Well you see, as I said in the description I made them to be -useful- for the non-combat parts of the adventure, and most of them don't have -direct- combat application. We fully understand that you -probably- think that "proper" ribbons are more akin to thieves cant and timeless body, but we respectfully disagree.

The example that we were aiming for was Heart of the Storm (I think that's the name); I don't know about other's campaigns, but being able to control a vessel to such a degree is very useful and probably adventure-changing in my games. Yet wizard uses it as an example to tell us what a ribbon is.

So... ahn, we're sorry that it's not what you expected? We truly are.

Well, the Monk features certainly have in-combat application. The iron shirt provides resistance to unarmed damage, and when is that going to be useful except in combat? Same with the thing that lets you punch swarms of enemies. Only useful in combat. And then there's the one that makes it so you can't be put to sleep magically. Suddenly sleep effects in combat are useless against that characters.

I'm late to the party on this, but I just bought this and find this guy's complaints to be legitimate, in that regard. The boat thing you mention certainly isn't direct, but a lot of your ribbons seem to be.

Sure Thony, you are right on your examples, but please allow me to point the reasoning behind some of them.

Iron Shirt: There are games and games, I'm sure, but in most of the D&D games I've seen nonmagical unarmed attacks are the province of low level monks, tavern brawls, roleplay duels, 'escape from prison' and 'gladiator arena' quests. While those are in fact combat scenes, they are more special events than typical grinding.

Same goes with endless strike, sure, by the cold wording of it it's an ability that extends the potential of a combat ability. But then, swarms are such a rare enemy (usually ignored or taken care by area attacks) that a monk facing one while having this ability is on the acceptable side of "special event" to me.

You could apply the same thinking to other ribbons, like Banner, Fast Crawl or Kip Up that give at least some utility during combat. Our idea is that those are either so small (full speed while prone) or so rare (taking a nonmagical...See more

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
