While traveling along the Long Road, just northeast of Waterdeep, the characters stop at a roadside inn. As they prepare to rest for the night, the party encounters a Tiefling shepherd who claims she is being harassed by the local farmers. Is this woman a target of bullying and prejudice, or is there something more sinister afoot at The Cottage on the Long Road?

The Cottage on the Long Road is an introductory adventure for 1st - 3rd level characters. Within these pages, you will meet Criella, a Tiefling woman who has saved her copper pieces over years of service to a knight in order to purchase a small farm and raise sheep in peaceful solitude. Disturbances at her home send her to the nearby roadside inn known as the Dashing Satyr, to seek safe haven and the aid of any adventurous soul who is willing to listen to her plight.

The Cottage on the Long Road contains:
A ten page adventure set in a rural area between Waterdeep and Amphail
Information of the Dashing Satyr, a roadside inn run by Wan Bai, a Shou woman with trade ties to Kara-Tur.
     Game statistics for Criella
A new Background: the Page, suitable for use in any campaign
Two single-page overview maps of pertinent locations from the adventure
Sixteen highly detailed full page print-n-play maps by artist Jack Badashski

Is it possible to get the Roll20 maps for this? It would be awesome if they were simply included in the .zip file.

The best maps we have for VTT have been uploaded in an additional zip file. All previous purchasers should be able to download them now.

I've read trough the adventure and it seems amazing and I can not wait to run it for my friends. Since I have seen that in the other comments I would like to ask you if its possible to get the maps "guled" together so i could upload them to roll20 with ease.
Thank you and I hope to give a review after I play trough the adventure!

Travis, I also need the Roll20 maps that Bum Yong K sent you. Could you please send me those maps. I am going to run my group through this. If it's good we will pick up the others as well. I love having adventures that I can drop into my campaign. My email is arlingtongamer at gmail..

I was just wondering how long this adventure was, could it be done in one 5-6 hour session?

That was about how long it took when I ran the playtest. Your mileage may vary.

Just ran this adventure for a brand new team of heroes. It is a fantastic, short beginner (or side quest). The monsters needed to be nerfed for a party of level 1 adventurers but that's normal to adjust for your needs. A lot of background material is provided for NPC's which is great for role playing. My group had a great time dealing with the dynamics in the inn. Travis was kind enough to provide me with maps because I needed to stitch them together for Roll20. I sent him the stitched maps so if you need them, ask him for them. He's a great guy.

This is an excellent adventure. It can serve as a quick standalone for those look for quick thrills or, better, it can serve as a foundation for an incredibly rich and complex campaign with Criella returning as a pivotal character. Introductory-level and veteran players alike will find enjoyment here.

First I want to say thank you for making such cool, solid adventure! I'm looking forward to using this in my group soon. That said, I am having some trouble printing the [awesome] maps to the proper scale. Using Adobe Reader X, it seems that I cannot get the printed maps to the 1" grid scale needed to play on them. I've tried using the A4 setting and others, but everything keeps coming out as one page. Do you have any suggestions or tips to get these printed up correctly?

Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoy Cottage on the Long Road. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with printing the maps.

Am I understanding correctly that you are able to print them but the scale is off?

Due to the layout of the page, the images are a slight bit (approx 1/16th inch, give or take) off of 1" per square. I've noticed this myself and need to do a little tweaking in the layout (which I will update the file with as soon as I can.)

Having said that, there are a few options:
You can print the map pages at 102% scale in letter setting, if your program offers that option. I've done this through preview on Mac and it prints true to 1" per square.
Aegis Studios also offers these map tiles as print on demand, for use with this or any other tabletop campaign. The POD tiles are true to 1" per square and the link to that product is now in the description above.

If my understanding...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
