The Pristine City

ADD TO WISHLIST >

In this adventure compatible with the 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons, a perfect, untouched city has been discovered deep underground—a city created to honor a legendary dwarven clan. No one lives there...but as you’ll learn, that doesn’t mean it’s deserted. Can you explore the city on behalf of the dwarves, or will you too become part of its buried history?

This adventure is designed for 3–5 players levels 5–7.

If you'd like to preview our work, check out Treasures of the Pristine City, which lists the ten magic items available in this adventure as a pay-what-you-want offering.

If you're looking for more monsters, check out Tome of Templates and Monster Mausoleum!

Also available: Player's Guide to Gith, a way to make both githyanki and githzerai into playable characters for your campaign.

I'm currently running Storm King's Thunder and accidentally got one of my players interested in trying to find the fallen city of Shanatar, which in my world was a dwarven city that fell millennia ago, trying to find a scepter for the Wyrmskull Throne. Would this city work as Shanatar?

It would be very useful to have a "roll20" type of city map available, or convert the campaign into a roll20 campaign? Fantasy Grounds too I suppose.

For those getting the error, as I did, try downloading it as a .zip file.

As a sandbox adventure, it will vary, but we estimate 5–7 sessions.

Having helped create backgrounds for the players (they are in middle school and their first time playing) one of the characters is a Dwarven Cleric who is divinely to find an artifact. This should fit perfectly in his character's quest.

Thanks for pointing out that we forgot to include that in the description! The answer is 3–5 players levels 5–7, and we've added it to the description.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
