Ranger Revised

This is a rebalancing of WotC's Ranger class.

The Ranger's issues are well documented and more numerous than what is fair.

This document resolves the following issues while preserving as much of WotC's vision as possible.

• Disproportionate Ability Ratios

• Poor Damage Scaling

• The Beastmaster's Robotic Companion

• The low Survival Rate of the Companion

• Poor Spellcasting Capabilities

• Lack of Non-Spellcasting options

In addition to the class's general revamp, this document introduces one new Ranger Archetype and 6 new Animal Companions.

Newest: The Curse of Ylem Grav (Adventure)

An adventure that can be easily implemented into any campaign, or even extend into being a campaign all onto itself. It is modular in nature, in order to have it takes exactly as much time as you wish it to, while catering for groups of any level or size.

Intelligence Matters

5 pages of new subclasses, rules, feats, and spells; all of which are designed to add value to what is commonly the most undervalued ability in the game.

Vampires

17 pages of rules designed to both make various vampire races a balanced player option, as well as raise the potential of npc vampires in order to make truly terrifying, ancient vampiric villains that rival the gods.

Golemancy

12 pages of rules and player options dedicated to crafting golems. Included are standard, automated golems, as well as both piloted golems and gestalt golems that can join together to create a golem of considerably larger size and power than the individual components.

The Drunkard

A simple 5 page class that offers a playstyle unique to anything available within the player's handbook.

The Disfigured Mage

A simple 5 page class that offers a playstyle unique to anything available within the player's handbook.

Epic Options

31 pages of rules and player options designed to expand the game from beyond level 20, to infinity.

Looks great will test it out next game, though it would be good if we could get a printer friendly version too.

I'm glad you like it! I'd like to hear what you think after it has been used.
As for a printer friendly version, that is near impossible right now. Image Shack or whatever I was using at the time to host the pictures, has since lost them somehow. Editing even a single aspect of the book would now require basically remaking the whole thing.
That might be something I'd consider looking into in the future, but not right now.

Question about beastmaster archetype. At lvl 15, Monstrous Companion, i can now summon and bond with Monstrosities. But to my knowledge, there are no monstrosities with a challenge rating of 1/4, they start as low as 1/2. is the Monstrous Companion ability a mistake, or have i missed something out completely? Thanks :)

You should include some method of achieving a similar result to Hunter's Mark. Perhaps some sort of quarry or something. The class needs that little extra punch in general. Maybe something around the effect of a 1 minute effect that scales in damage and uses as you increase in level? I've never made any classes or anything, so that's just my uneducated opinion.

I assume you are specifically talking about the Hunter?
I could do that but the new 11 ability keeps up with damage pretty well and Rangers have always had solid damage prior to that point anyway. The reason I went with (And prefer) the new level 11 options over Hunter's Mark is because of Hunter's Mark using the bonus action. Relying on something that uses the bonus action to keep up with damage results in builds that also use the bonus action falling behind due to the competition for that action. Essentially, it makes two-weapon fighters and crossbow experts weaker.
I could solve the issue just by making it extra damage that requires nothing, but that is kind of bland and someone one of my level 11 options does anyway.

what the hell are you talking about... the actual ranger only needs to put hunters mark once and use the bonus action only to move it around. after that they can do two weapon fighting as long as they please. the same way a bard can dual wield and still use his bardic inspiration if he wants to.

That is the point. If two-weapon fighting is balanced with the other fighting styles, then using a mechanic that interferes with TWF more than it does the others (by using the bonus action), ruins that balance. It makes the TWF option less appealing and I'd rather make as many options as viable as possible.

Unless you were told by WotC to do this, you should take that off.

Very misleading.

Why?
WotC don't even post things here and they wouldn't post anything like that - one look at the cover is enough to know that WotC didn't produce this, even if we had reason to think that they would have posted a Ranger Revision here.

Yes wizards do post a lot of their content here. why wouldn'T they, they are the ones doing this to begin with. as for the permission to do this, they released the SRD which explicitly tells you what you can do and cannot do. so before posting something you should check that out first.

You shouldn't cite WotC as an author unless you did this under their instruction. Right now it looks like Wizards directly approves this build, which may not be the case.

Fair enough, I'll take them off. I figured it was more respectful to give them their credit.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
