3 Bard Archetypes (Colleges of Diplomacy, Animalism, and Dilettante)

I've never been satisified with the current batch of Bard Colleges, so I've added 3 more that a bard can choose from.  These are for any 5e setting and are chosen by the bard at level 3, in place of one of the existing colleges.

hello, i do have a couple of questions about the colleges presented.

1) college of dilettante, with the level 1 feature you can pick, how would you work it with taking the wizards spell book? would it work as you gaining the book and can cast spells from it using bard slots?

2) college of dilettante, how would you work taking pack magic?

3) college of dilettante, is there any particular reason you limited it to only having level based abilities limited to first? would it break the college if it grew even at a slower rate?

I have a couple questions about the College of Diplomacy. I am very interested in it, as it seems a good addition to my campaign. Please forgive my length and wordiness, but I am very excited about this.

1) Where/how do you think coercion (aka Intimidation) plays a role in diplomacy, if at all? I noticed that it was not really addressed as a tool of diplomacy.

2) Why does a diplomacy bard have to choose between Truth or Lies? Why can't a diplomat use both Truth AND Lies to great diplomatic effect?

3) Regarding Bribery, does it have to be money? Could Bribery be used with art, jewelry, or even a magical item? Art and jewelry have gold values in the DMG, but magical items do not. So I would guess that using them would be too difficult to fairly adjudicate with the Hit Dice of the creature.

4) Finally, in Subtle Diplomacy, I do not think concealing verbal components is a good fit with the Persuasion skill. Persuasion is all about "convincing"...See more

1. Personally intimidating someone isn't this college's style. In the more abstract sense, your question is a deeper philosophical one than is applicable to this archetype.

2. You choose your specialization. It's not as though a bard that chooses "truth" is somehow forbidden from lying.

3. DM's discretion for jewels or another item a creature might want. I didn't say you could always do it with item value because trading a climbers kit to a bandit to convince him to leave you alone sounds silly.

4. That's not a question, but I appreciate your opinion. Short response: think of persuasion as flavoring your spells as a request (think suggestion) instead of an invokation.

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
