Class Pack I

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This Purchase includes Multiple Classes; included are the Astrumancer, the Beguiler, the Chevalier, the Cultist, the Far Child, the Hel Lord, the Lexitheurge, the Ninja, the Tenebrist, and the Vampire Lord. Download the free Unspeakable Class to finish this collection.

It would be cumbersome to detail each of the Classes here. If you want more information on each of the Classes, click the link for them and look at their descriptions.

Note that between the Classes there are two Formats. Classes with a Format similar to the Player's Handbook are the new and updated versions. The Classes with the other Format were made before DMs Guild launched, when Homebrew for 5e was just beginning, and may not be properly balanced. They will be updated at a later, hopefully soon, date.

The following have already been updated and rebalanced : the Beguiler, the Chevalier, the Hel Lord, the Lexitheurge, the Ninja, and the Tenebrist. Others pending . . .

I believe that, in general, each class should cost a dollar, making this document too expensive. But I may be wrong, of course.

It seems FAR too much, even 1$ for a class is a lot ! they are usually less complete and balanced than those from the PHB and that book costs 26$ !!!!!! (with FAR more content) if you think that 20$ for what I guess to be a booklet at most 40 pages long then the PHB should cost more than 100$

In short : overpriced ++

There are 104 pages of content, between all of the Classes (not including title pages). All of these Classes, but one, have Archetypes; 3 of those with completely original Archetypes and 3 with Archetypes that have some, or mostly, new material.
And many Classes sell for $2 on the site already. Most of the Classes within are $2 individually, with the Tenebrist and Lexitheurge at $5 due to having to recreate the Utterances and Mysteries wholesale. Overpriced? Not really. And, anyway, my Sales Report indicates otherwise.

Another point, of note, is the law of supply and demand. WotC can reach a larger audience and sell more. Therefore they can sell their product for less. The low price, in turn, improves the number of products they can sell. The smaller the volume of sale, and so lower the demand, the more specialized and expensive a product is.

According to their website, here : https://dnd.wizards.com/products/tabletop-games/rpg-products/rpg_playershandbook, the Player's Handbook costs $49.95. Not $26. I'm fairly sure the few places selling them for that, either bought them in bulk or the price was marked down after months of sale.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
