The Sun Goes Down with a Ruby Smile

I just ran this adventure as a starter into my new campaign, and the players loved it! They were very happy to be able to piece together the story on their own, though I as the DM sometimes struggled to keep up with the map placements. Perhaps you could bundle all the pictures and maps at the end of the pdf, so that DMs can easily print them out for player handouts?

The picture of the gravesite was beautifully drawn, and the backstories of all the Npcs made the story come alive.

The only complaint that the players had was Ruby's name being the same name as the most dominant precious metal on the island, leading to some "who's on first" moments, so they renamed him George and he's actually going with them on their adventure.

The combats allowed the new players to learn how combat works, with passive perception, initiative, difficult & 3D terrains all playing into the various fights, especially in the last 'boss' fight. All in all, a blast for everyone at the...See more table!

is their a general stat that can be used for an arm as a weapon? maovar got hit in the face with his own arm and I wasn't sure how much damage it would do other than confusing him a little.

they also ended it without any real combat, should I not have let them finish it this way?

I know this is an island. Where about would be a good location to set the island within the Forgotten Realms? I'm trying to give my group a starting point where they left from Waterdeep but get blown off-course/lost at sea until they hit this island. I know it should be remote enough that no one can find it but I'm still fairly new to DMing.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

The map for the Clearing is not there. Is this intentional because of the simplicity of the area? This is an amazing adventure, great work!

I just noticed that the text entry for the "Resident's Well"-R9 on page 9 is wrong. It has mistakenly been cut and pasted from R7. I'm only just starting to wrap my head around what looks to be an interesting adventure. Definitely NOT the hack-and-slash killfest that some adventurers might expect. Great work!
