Herald of the Moon

Elanil Elassidil, an elf bard of no small legacy, has put out a call for trustworthy agents. It is time, it seems, for a quietly hidden piece of elven history to become known to the world. Meira Faerenduil, lost knight of Myth Drannor, has been dis-covered, and must be brought back to civilization.

A four-hour adventure for 5th-10th level characters.

Spoilers:
I ran this module for a smaller (4 person) experienced APL 8 (weak) party and I recommend paying close attention to where you place the monsters. We had no EE, and I placed the giant boars too far away to charge. This was the same with the ooze fight, the room is pretty big and I placed it too far away to get more then 1 attack in before it fell. My second comment is to be careful with higher level parties, my party flew up to the abby and went straight for the final fight, flying in through the branches, then backtracked backwards thru the rooms, then flew down and dealt with the drow at the end, convincing them all to side with the them using the warlock's telepathy

SPOILERS

So reading through this, the ending is confusing. The whole point of having the shade coin was that if it ran out of magic, the elf couldn't be freed from service.

Yet at the end, no matter what happens, the elf is freed. Huh?

I merged the Treant encounter and the Drow encounter as I felt both were kinda anti climatic and it separated the party's motivations.

I had Cursed Treant being cursed by another Treant that was corrupted by the Demons in the underdark.

Said Treant was given a legendary action (reskinned thorn whip to be dark energy and Slam Attack) I also upped the Corrupted Treants damage with necrotic energy

I pit him against the Drow and made it clear that the leader would die in x amount of rounds if the PC's did not help them out

3.5/5

My players skipped over most of the last few areas (the parts I was most looking forward to running) and beat the final fight in only a few turns despite being relatively weak and asking me to make things more difficult for them. I did enjoy the treant encounter, as well as the drow camp, but in general this mod felt a little too long to complete in four hours without flat-out skipping the last section.

Pretty great module. Spoilers:

I DMed it with a group of 7 high level characters so it wasn't very hard for them but it was fun. We had Emerald Enclave members in the party so we encountered the treant instead of the giant and they managed to cure it without fighting it. The players were a bit too fresh when they faced the boss so the fight was underwhelming. The story is great though.

I enjoyed this module as a player and DM primarily because it allowed wilderness characters to shine for a change. Instead of the usual in city intrigue or dungeon exploration you finally head off into the wilderness. My biggest complaint is the time felt really crunched for a four hour adventure.

Has the author considered having a Fantasy Grounds Conversion done? I would really like to have all of season 3 available in FG.

Rating 2/5

A decent adventure, but the most interesting encounter is one that the module encourages the party to skip. A great magic item is the ultimate goal, but the boss fight is a little bit of a let down, as well is the adventure to get there. I would take special care to make sure that you balance this module to be challenging to the party.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
