We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

Thank you for providing free for a limited time. However, when it's added to the cart, it's still listed as $3.99.

Thank you for updating this - the additional content file download link seems to be broken for me. I've tried to download it several times and DMsGuild says "A file was found, but no job related to the file was recorded. Please contact Customer Support and notify them of this problem."

Did you get this sorted out with customer service? They're the ones you need to talk to about it.

My first D&D Adventurers League adventure DDEX1-12 Raiders of the Twilight Marsh has been updated and new content added! The main adventure has seen a few edits and an update to the formatting, nothing major. However, an encounter that was originally cut for length has now been added (if you like one half-dragon, you'll love two!) Enjoy!

Am I missing something or is there no Part 4? Seems to jump from 3 to 5?

Thanks for the update with the additional encounter! ... although I wish it had come out before I had my Season 1 set collected and hardbound!
Was anything changed in the main module, or is it just the additional file added?

Ah bummer! There were some minor edits in the adventure, nothing major and a change to the formating from the old format.

I'm looking for a 4 hour adventure to run tomorrow for Memorial Day :) I've only DM'd once - through the 5e starter set "The Lost Mines of Phandelver". I haven't figured out what our next adventure will be yet, so just looking for something for level 5 (group of 6) to play. Is this an adventure we could do as a one off or would we need to have previous knowledge from the previous adventures?

This has been one of my favorite Season 1 modules to run. Lot's of great role-play opportunities and great combat encounters. Well done.

There's a mention of a Larga Bloodhand in part 4.

Who is Larga Bloodhand? Did I miss something? (Did I ask this before? Sorry if I don't remember.) And Reema?

Oh. I see that Larga is a prisoner in part 6 (or is that part 7?). No stats for her though.

What about Reema?

Laraga is an orog, Reema was an NPC that got cut from the original adventure and it looks like this mention of her wasn't scrubbed.

4/5 Stars, this module has it all, dragons, hags, curses, and roleplay! Starting from the beginning scenes your PC's can shine if they have the sailor background by helping to secure a boat to get to your objective, its a race against the clock and PCs can choose to travel many different ways (foot, horse, boat). The next parts allow some roleplay and openness for a module, especially the hags. My only issue with the Hags are they can curse a PC and unless they play in a module with that exact Hag they cannot remove the curse (kinda a bummer). The last part in the dragons lair is fast paced and allows PC's to either fight a dragon or live to fight another day. Overall I like the options this module gives PCs and it seems each play through can be much different than the last!

The group that I DMed for (APL 6) actually killed Velvet in the battle in the ruins outside. They hit him with a Hypnotic Pattern when he was flying at 120' altitude, doing 12d6 damage (and killing all the kobolds). Then they got several good rolls attacking him on the ground, hit him with a Suggestion to make him fly up in the air again (he was going to flee anyway, but this made it so he had to fly away to the best of his ability, which meant he had to Dash rather than Disengage and get hit with AoOs) and then they hit him with a Battlemaster Fighter's Trip Attack from a crossbow, making him fall 120' again. The module doesn't really say what happens if you do that. It seems like there should be some special reward for doing that - like now they don't have to worry about the dracolich later if they play some later adventure that would otherwise include the dracolich?

There are times when the community's outcome is not the same as the group, in that case, when Velvet shows up in another adventure, just replace it with another dracolich.

As for the suggestion spell, the spell indicates that asking it to do something obviously harmful ends the spell, I would posit that moving out of reach of enemies is harmful and would have ended the spell or allowed him to disengage, but that's just me.

This adventure was beyond phenomenal to run. I loved the interactions with the Hags, and enjoyed having the characters combat the many foes. It would have been better if I was able to understand the hour by hour pacing for the adventure cause the first time I ran it, the characters didn't even see the dragon or anything because they essentially powered through the lair. Perhaps I ran that part of it wrong. But other than that, it was tons of fun, and role playing Velvet is great. (I love role playing the dragons in this game.)

Ratings:
-- Target Level: I hope it is at least 7 or 8.
-- Story: 5/5.
-- Pacing: 4/5.
-- Combat Difficulty: 4.5/5.

Introduction: Solid hooks. My dragonborn sailor got to crew a very very small ship! (Okay, okay, it was just a boat.)

Exploration: Crazy amounts of exploration! Great time based module.

Combat: We almost had a TPK. Trap we forgot about softened the party just enough for both an unfortunate surprise round to take down one PC, then the monsters first normal turn to take down two more. If it wasn't for a just as fortunate Sorcerer-Warlock round we probably would have all died.

Roleplaying Opportunities: Several great ones. My dragonborn got to "bro out" with the lizardfolk.

Overall: Another one for the "definitely repeat" list.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
