Gleaning the Glyphs: The Runescribe Class (5e)

Suggested Price $0.99

Runic magic has returned to the world.

This class is a full class adaptation of the prestige class suggested in Unearthed Arcana. The runescribe is a full spellcaster whose spell list is based on the runes to which she is attuned. Each rune gives the runescribe several simple properties as well as some for the initiate, but master runescribes can unleash the most powerful magics on the world. As the runescribe grows in power, she learns to unlock more powerful properties for each rune and attune to additional ones to give her greater flexibility. The available Runescribe Chapter gains a few more features based on an affinity for wood, but additional options will be added later.

The ley lines of the world are available to you, if you will learn how to read and inscribe them.

I'm sorry I just think it's stupid that any core class feature would take away from your attunement slots? Why limit a classes access to other magical items ever? don't just say Artificer has abilities that take from attunement because it also adds attunement slots to supplement it. It works for that because it is making already existing magical items and functionally making it so you can use them without the attunement you would need otherwise, where this is making SOME of the abilities your get from runes ignore the attunement it would need according to the class. Why not just make it not require attunement at all and instead make it so you just can only "focus" or some other term on so many at a time?

It's based on the Prestige Classes and Rune Magic Unearthed Arcana, which similarly required attunement for its runic system. I assume the design idea is that at a minimum each rune gives you abilities equivalent to a minor magical item (the same is true here); rather than overly question it, I kept the approach.

This class *does* give what are functionally additional attunement slots at 9th and 18th levels to address this issue, though whether this is sufficient is certainly a reasonable concern.

Great Work! my only thing I would change is the divine magic into arcane and change the divine symbol spellcasting focus into a rune stone you currently have on you, or something similar to that.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
