Hi Paul,

I've purchased and am VERY excited to try this template. While I can get the template imported I can't get it to open.

I've done the following:
Start New Project
Options and import the template
Under Save As I enter my name
Hit Create... And nothing.

Is there something I'm issing? Please and thanks.

Sorted. It was user error—in other words, mine.

FABULOUS template. Thank you so much.

Seemed to work okay from the Scrivener 3 "import template" command. Couldn't double-click on it, but got it figured out eventually.

Hi! Windows Scrivener 3 user. I just dropped the scrivtemplate file into the relevant Scrivener program file, and the template seems to launch no problem. But, do I need to do a similar thing for the scrformat file that is included? Couldn't find the "import template" in Options as described below, but that's from three years ago so I'm not surprised.

Hi! To import a format into Scrivener you need to go to the "Compile" menu. Should be File->Compile, then there's a three dot menu near the bottom left where you can import a Scrivener Template for compilation.

What issue are you having with it? I can assure you it works - I just loaded up a new instance as a sanity check to make sure an update didn't break something.

Help! This looks really useful but I just can't get the output I'm expecting. (Using Scrivener 3.1.3 on a MAC. )
When I compile I just get plain white pages and standard text output - not the two-column version illustrated. I don't know what allocations to make in the compile dialogue to make this happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Tony,

Make sure you're exporting as .rtf and it should show columns. Perhaps the reason you're not seeing them is because you're using a program to view the file that doesn't support columnar display - ie TextEdit.

Try viewing the .rtf in word

Thanks, Paul. I was using the wrong app - even Pages didn't like the RTF. However, when I compile for export using the DND Template to format, I get a message saying no layouts have been assigned to section types. There are too many section layouts that look the same for me to choose the right one. I'm now getting multiple columns, but no 'Homebrewery' styles...

It won't end up looking like Homebrewery as the template isn't designed to do that, but you can export the text you've written in Scrivener via Compile and then import/copy & paste it into Homebrewery or GMBinder if you want that type of style.

Scrivener isn't a tool for formatting and styling text in the way Homebrewery does, it's a composition tool. You should use a dedicated tool (ie the ones listed above) for getting that type of styling if that's what you're searching for.

I get that same message you're seeing too, it's just warning you that the output is going to be WYSIWYG on the export.

Thanks Paul, pasting into GMBinder is a cool idea and solution.

Hi Paul,

Unfortunately, I'm stuck on Scrivener 2 for the time being. Any chance you can save this template to a previous version? I realize there may be some imperfections that way. Thanks!

Bobby,

I've uploaded a Scriv 2 export. I can provide no support on it as I do not have a copy of Scrivener 2. I hope it works for you. I suggest to you and everyone else to please use the version for Scrivener 3

Bradford,

Unfortunately this is a Scrivener 3 template. Once Literature & Latte releases version 3 for Windows (as of the time of this post they're estimating Q2 2019) it should work.

John,

Ensure you're using Scrivener 3, Open Scrivener, Click "Options" in the bottom left, the "Import Templates...", and then select the file.

If you're using Windows you'll have to wait for Literature & Latte to release version 3 for Windows which (as of the time of this post) they're estimating Q2 2019.

Hope that helps!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
