Memories of the Penitent is an epic, 40 Page autonomous adventure (6-8 hours) for 5-6th level characters which can be integrated into any campaign.

This module takes place within the pocket reality of a mysterious artifact known as The Genesis Tesseract. It hails from another world, one that was consumed by some great catastrophe. Rumors claim it contains the memories of a powerful but deceased demigod and those who solve it will unlock his secrets.

It comes with:

- 12 detailed, hand-drawn maps in 1080P resolution.
- 10 fully illustrated scenes to capture locations or story elements crucial to the adventure.
- 8 original NPCs / Monsters with full illustrations and statistics.
- 4 original magical weapons with full illustrations and statistics.
- 1 potential portable base of operations for PCs with fully illustrated floor plans.

The module is fully navigable through the table of contents. Full resolution images and maps are shared through dropbox and can be accessed through the embedded URLs in each map or image.

Hi,

I don't know if I'm missing some information or don't understand how the adventure works, but what's the narrative between the Acts. I.E. ACT I - Labyrinth and ACT II - Camp, how it's connected one with the other? Or is it up to me to link them?

Cheers,

So I'm running this tomorrow and figured it out. After you go through the waterfall you end up on a hill overlooking the camp. I'm going to RP it as they're walking between the walls of the maze, make it kinda mystical and XXX. From the camp they either can go up the stairs or explore the strange building.
This adventure definitely requires some improvisation, as it only gives you the building blocks of the story, and allows you to create the tissue to connect it. This is how you should write all adventures, as it rides the fine line of not being overly scripted and not becoming arbitrary due to lack of content. Do yourself a favor and utilize the hand drawn map from the beginning, and kind of run yourself through the adventure in your head. Also I made a series of bullet points to remember for each act/area, so that when I improv it stays consistent. An example would be like; Act 1 is ancient, overgrown, and wonderous. Act 3 is dark and anxious, you should run it like you would CoC. Just things to remind...See more

Hi there Yi! I'm planning on running my group through this module starting Saturday, but I have a question. The entrance of Thren and his honor guards at the end leaves me confused; are they a threat at that point? Do the honor guards join as auxiliary enemies in the fight with the Void Horror?

I also don't see Save Throw proficiencies on the Void Horror; is the intention that they have no proficient saves, and I just use ability mods?

I apologize for not seeing this until now. After reading the lab notes, the players should conclude that the only way out of the Tesseract is to sacrifice someone of sufficient level. This can either be Thren or one of the players themselves. It is the DMs discretion whether Thren has also the read the lab notes and enters the scene with that knowledge. Thren may be honorable, but he is willing to sacrifice a stranger to escape. I would probably make this decision based on how the players reacted to the information and whether or not they armed themselves with an injector. One member of my party (a Paladin of course), offered to sacrifice himself but my more murder-hobo-y friend just injected him without question.

Did your players escape the Tesseract? Did they feel guilty about backstabbing Thren or sacrificing one of their own?

I appreciate the input. I went ahead and added a short description and expanded the preview to showcase some of the art as well as the story and background.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
