Of all the creatures that roam the dark recesses of the world, the dragon is probably the most infamous and is surely one of the most deadly. They are known not just for their ferocity with tearing claws and rending fangs, but also for their inherent magical essence. The oldest dragons are known as some of the most powerful creatures in the multiverse. Because of this infamous reputation, many mortals have tried to harness the power of these behemoths for their own nefarious purposes. Most have failed in this endeavor, but at some point in history, a draconic essence was imbued into a construct, giving it the appearance and abilities of a dragon, but being made entirely of black ink.

The Inky Dragon has the appearance of a dragon's shadow, peeled off of the surface it was attatched to and given three-dimensional form. It stands slightly shorter than an adult dragon. Its form is solid, but leaves a black, brackish ink on whatever surface it contacts. Its body is blacker than the night sky and does not change shade, making it difficult to see where one part of its body ends and another begins. One of the infamous calling cards of this titan of blackness is the inky black footprings it leaves as it stalks around on the ground, and the iconic splash marks of the black fluid that sprays off of its wings as it takes flight.

The Inky Dragon is a CR 15 homebrew monster written for 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons.  This monster comes with a full stat block for the monster, as well as text of lore about the Inky Dragon and how a PC or NPC can go about creating one.  The Inky Dragon makes an excellent edition to any mid to high level adventure filled with horror or intrigue.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
