The Heir of Orcus

The Heir of Orcus Strikes Back!

Ios, the Overseer of Duerradin, a highly advanced duergar psionic research outpost, invites you to discuss the recent activity of the Heir of Orcus and her worshipers, the Cult of the Heir. Explore Duerradin for clues leading to nefarious plots carried out by the Cult of the Heir, discover alien technologies found nowhere else in the Forgotten Realms, and learn the dark history surrounding the rise of Duerradin before the Heir of Orcus strikes!

From the Author:

The Heir of Orcus: Verse III is my most ambitious project to date. I wanted to create a cyberpunk type city in Faerun using existing lore from the Forgotten Realms. I think the adventure succeeds in both creating a unique experience for players and Dungeon Masters who visit Duerradin and explore all its secrets. I've also tried out some new narrative mechanics I think help adventure designs incorporate more action without the "time" requirement that comes with combat. Please check out the free preview, I've included a bulk of the beautiful art in there. This project would not be what it is without the help and work of many others, this is a true team effort and for that, I thank all those involved. I hope you enjoy The Heir of Orcus: Verse III

Each purchase includes:

  • Full Color PDF
  • Specially designed printer friendly PDF
  • Fantasy Grounds Module
  • All art asset files (35+ Commissioned Pieces of Artwork!)

Hi - this looks pretty interesting (playing via Fantasy Grounds). Is there any thought of bundling all of the verses together? I see I & II are bundled but III and IV aren't. Is there one big bundle for this?

At this time there is not, since this requires approval from the AL Admins. I may look into it though since ideally, that would be a great bundle to have!

Sorry to be a pest but is there any update on possibly bundling all of these or is it pretty much a 'no go'?

SITREP MAY 5, 2020 (MELBDDAL): A party of six adventurers teamed up with Ser Titus, knowing that with Tyr on their side, they would be strong against the demon horde. It was to be their first encounter with the followers of the Heir of Orcus. First, they defeated many demon spawn at the crossroads using magical fire attacks and then set up a defensive fighting position to beat off the attacking mobs. They set off up into the mountains, discovering the path down into the Underdark. Tired after their journey they took rest at Serenity, and through Fargore picked up a clue to get them started. The adventurers began their investigations and became aware of the plight of the rogue psyms, coming to the rescue of a pair of refugees. Clues led them to a hidden cultist location, but they let one of them slip, and almost came to a nasty end in the underground chambers. They couldn't resist their curiosity so they released an ancient traveller from his tomb, only to escape themselves from a grisly end. Finally, they...See more

Is there any problem using the isometric maps in Roll20? The video review says they can't be used, but without having tried them yet, I'd like to find out first!

They can be used, it just requires you to manually move the tokens. No snap to grid.

Cool, thanks Anthony. I often run maps with no grid, so that's no big deal at all. I will post some screenshots from the game, I think it will run great!

Is this module intended to be Adventurer's League Legal? I had a blast playing in this and would love to continue the story as part of Adventure League.

I know I can still play in it if it isn't AL legal. Just really like seeing strong stories like this as part of the offerings. :D

It does not appear in the CCC listings of Content Catalog v9.02. Am I missing something?

The AL CCC is no longer maintained. The AL section of DMSGUILD now fills that function. If it’s here, it’s AL legal. Per a AL Admin FB posting.

Awesome adventure series so far mate, thanks for all the hard work you put into this polished product. By the way, how many verses can we expect from the Hier of Orcus series?

Thanks for the kind words. Verse IV comes out in February, and in my head, I had planned for at least 5-6 Verses in total. Not 100% sure when Verse V or IV will premier as I have a lot to consider if I want to make those.

The color version of the module is missing pages 17, 19, 20. I wish you had a Ios Battle Map that could be used for VTT (Roll20)

James, I think you might be not be opening the full PDF. I just checked and all the pages are there. Also you can use the Ios Battle Map in Roll20, you just need to take the grid off and make the Page 23 x 11, with Page Scale 70 Pixels = 8 feet.

That will make the battle map fit perfectly on Roll20.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
