Hope for the Best. Prepare for the Worst. Bring a Warm Coat.

The frozen wastes are as inhospitable place as you can find. Subzero temperatures. Driving winds. Chest deep snows. Hungry predators. And between all that? A lonely death. But still, those few who prepare for it manage to survive where all others fall. Ready yourself. The blizzard comes.

Knuckleheads & Other Such Curiosities: A Travelers’ Guide to Icewind Dale contains new arctic themed subclasses, backgrounds, spells and magic items for players; new monsters, afflictions, herbs, terrain, and weather rules for the DM. In addition, we offer over 60 random encounters and expanded encounters to augment your Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign and full-length adventures legal for the D&D Adventurers League Forgotten Realms and Oracle of War Eberron campaigns!

Those chapters pre-approved for use with D&D Adventurers League campaigns are marked with the DDAL medallion. Other rules content (Chapters 2 and 5) may be used with campaign documentation.

As I was inputting the backgrounds into DDB, which obviously requires a much closer attention to detail, I noticed that y'all have fishing tackle as tool proficiency for Cold Water Fisherfolk and Whaler. Fishing tackle is adventuring gear, and thus doesn't use proficiency. Unlike the other copyediting issues that I can rectify in DDB (side note, Fisher is acceptable, so the "folk" is unnecessary), the inclusion of fishing tackle proficiency creates a mechanical deficiency, which is why I'm bringing it to your attention. I know I can adjust the proficiencies for myself without issue, which I probably will until/unless y'all update the document, but not everyone may be aware, and thus won't think to adjust it for themselves.

Other than that, I do really enjoy this supplement. I'm surprised there wasn't a ranger subclass, but that's not even a gripe. Overall, it's a pretty solid supplement, especially for the purposes of fleshing out the Adventurers League experience, and there are other elements...See more

I would like to get higher resolution copies of the 3 maps included in the adventures, but one doesn't have any indication of its source, the other two have some illegible text which just seems to indicate they are copyright WotC, and in the credits indicates which illustrators created them that I can see. Where can I find them?

Assuming you mean the maps in Ferocious Love, they are poster maps from Tactical Maps Reincarnated. If you mean the line art map from Cold Spell In Frostfell, that was made by Travis specifically for this product.

Hey Team!
Just seeking an errata, on page 12, the frostblooded sorcerer "Heart of the Blizzard Feature" states

"...You cannot fall and remain hovering in the air even when stunned or otherwise incapacitated..."

However, later in the same feature it states

"You remain in this form for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated..."

As I'm sure you can see, this is somewhat contradictory. Please advise.

I'm hoping to get in contact with someone over the credits in the opening section of this product. If anyone happens to see this, I would like to get a chance to touch base about this. Thanks for your time.

Wait... Are there any more 'Oracle of War' legal adventure modules (full blown adventures with Adventure Records, not just Salvage Missions) randomly scattered in different DM's Guild products? :O

Other than the actual OoW DDAL adventure series, I don't think so.

For the Servants to Fashion random encounter (pg. 45-46) one of the rewards is a Robe of Useful Items. It lists 5 patches that it has (iron door, wooden ladder, mastiff, portable ram, pitx5). Are those the only patches it has or does it have the basics ones from the DMG (dagger, steel mirror, 10 foot pole, hemp rope, sack) plus the ones listed in the encounter?

Those are the random ones. It still has the ones that are normally found as well.

So, as a content provider to DMsGuild, I cannot review or rate this. Fair enough. So instead, have my comments here:
Five stars. Five. Stars. Five stars from me.
Greg & co have created a "small" book for Icewind Dale on par with the Tasha's book. Multitude of subclasses, backgrounds, items and background stuff to enhance Icewind Dale as a setting. Throw in two adventures, that are up to the usual Greg Marks & co standards (which means _very_ high quality), and you have the PERFECT addition to your Icewind Dale shelf in your game room!

Kudos, Greg et al, on a very thorough and fullfilling product! I have it on my desk when I write DCs :)

Thanks! Also to be fair, Shawn Merwin (who is an adventure writing whiz) provided the two adventures with only the tiniest polish from me. I'm pretty sure Travis Woodall wrote something in that book too!

In the Bitter Zephyr feature of Frost druid how long does it last? Or can you do it as soon as you drop to 0 hit points? Are all of the effects in the feature instantaneous and do they happen all at once?

For the Primal Magic Wizard tradition, does it take a bonus action to enter primal state? Also for primal strike I assume that the extra melee weapon attack isn't viable for a cantrip like Booming Blade or whatnot being tagged on top of it?

Little feedback: your back cover says the product requires 5e PH, MM and DMG but some of the monsters mentioned in the text are from VGtM (e.g. bheur hag, spawn of Kyuss). You should consider providing those statblocks in Chapter 9 or update your back cover blurb to say "Requires 5e PH, MM, DMG, and VGtM".

I see the image of a crag cat above. If they're in the adventure, is the book already out of date and have them as beasts and not monstrosities, as they are in Rime of the Frostmaiden and, thanks to errata, Storm King's Thunder?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
