Professor Pacali's Catalogue of Curiosities Logo

“It is a phenomenon that defies flesh and spirit. I call it ‘The Twisting’, so named for how these accursed Mists contort and resculpt the body to their own fantastical designs. Their motivations for doing so are unclear beyond their own macabre nature.

Those who are born or made into Curiosities by The Twisting have a home here in The Carnival -- whether they like it or not!”

- Professor Pacali, curator of the Hall of Horrors

Professor Pacali’s Catalogue of Curiosities is a 5th edition supplement inspired by the return of the classic Ravenloft attraction, The Carnival. The features in this supplement are heavily inspired by the phenomenon from the original Carnival release known as The Twisting, reimagined for a whole new generation of adventurers. For use within the Ravenloft setting and beyond! It includes:

  • Create-A-Curiosity: Twist characters into magnificent, horrific new forms with these new feature tables!

  • The Curiosity Lineage: Curiosities aren't just born, they’re made!

  • The Fairfolk Background: Live out your dream of joining The Carnival!

BONUS: Included is an image of the Carnival ticket stub created for the supplement cover, for use in your own campaign!

Author’s Note: This is my first foray into creating a full on supplement for Dungeons & Dragons. A lot of care went into not only the writing of this, but the construction and design of it as well. The supplement is Pay What You Want, but if you like what you see, donations and feedback are always welcomed and who knows, I may continue to make more content for the community!

Update Log: Fixed a typo that incorrectly listed d20 instead of d12 for the Arms/Legs feature table.

Hi Edward!

There was a bit of a mix-up when uploading the updated PDF. It should be available now. Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
