Sadachbia's Spell Summaries

If you're like me, you find picking spells time-consuming and frustrating based on the spell lists available in the Player's Handbook or supplements. Cool, look at all these new 5th-level spells! Too bad you can't tell exactly what they do unless you flip back and forth between your class' spell list and the descriptions later in the chapter. Meanwhile, the barbarian, rogue, and monk party members are champing at the bit, waiting for you to finish levelling up so the session can start.

I decided to help remedy this problem by adding Third Edition-style blurbs to summarise each spell in the list! They're only one or two sentences long, but include the kind of at-a-glance information you need when trying to decide on spells: targets, damage dice, what happens if you cast at a higher level, etc. I also subdivided the Wizard spell list by school, so that it's easier to tell if something is actually Evocation and thus gets your bonuses, or ope, never mind it's actually Conjuration.

I compiled spells from several OGL books: the Player's Handbook, Elemental Evil Player's Companion, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, and Xanathar's Guide to Everything. Not included are spells from books such as Acquisitions Incorporated or Explorer's Guide to Wildemount. I also didn't include complete descriptions, so for full details on a spell, you'll still need to have access to the original sourcebook (dead-tree version, D&D Beyond, a friend's copy, etc.).

Happy spellcasting!

Love the summaries, but I was hoping they included range, aoe, whether an attack roll is needed, what type of save is allowed (if any), and the effect if the target makes the save.

Some of them I did include whether it's an attack roll or not, but I largely followed 3E's style as a guide and they kept summaries very concise in that edition (I don't think any of 3E's summaries included range, for example). It doesn't stay a short blurb if I include every detail from the description, unfortunately :/

Sorry for the delayed response, but this might help you! https://www.dmsguild.com/product/176796/Spell-List-with-all-Info It's something I purchased before, but discovered it didn't contain the summary descriptions like I miss from 3rd Edition. This one is a spreadsheet that DOES list all the mechanics info (range, save, etc.) you want!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
