The Rouge: Rogue Class Variant and Subclasses

Suggested Price $1.00

The mysterious "rouge" is a class mentioned over and over in online conversations, yet its features have never been described in a D&D product before! In fact, "rouge class abilities" and "what does a rouge do in dnd" are popular Google searches, yet no answers can be found...

The author has sought to provide the first full rouge class, based on clues from social media (it seems to be very similar to a rogue from most comments) and all the concepts the name "rouge" calls to mind! This variant rogue has distinctive features and unique flavor to fulfill all expectations for this much-discusssed yet strangely absent character option.

Also included are four subclass, usable by either the rouge OR the existing rogue class!

Rogue subclasses (and rouge subclasses) include:

  • The Theif - How does this character type (also named repeatedly in many blogs and internet posts) differ from the traditional thief? The answer may shock you!
  • The Theif-Acrobat - Another enigma repeated often but never published, this rougish archetype combines the thief-acrobat from 1st Edition AD&D with the inimitable powers of a theif!
  • The Tomb Robber - Pretty much Indiana Jones... but with the special flavor only the powers of the rouge can provide!
  • The Wondrous Glamourist - This expert artisan of life-changing makeovers combines spellcasting with disguise kit expertise to transform his allies' self-esteem and help enemies face the insecurities that haunt them.

Critical Role creator Matt Mercer called author Jeremy Forbing's Ravenloft Archetypes "Really grand content! Well thought out, well presented, and a fantastic supplement to any campaign... Highly recommended!"* This product applies the same approach to a variant class tempered by years of experience crafting more DM's Guild content. Many of these options are revisions of existing materials, improved by community feedback and the experiences of thousands of players as well as playtesting at the author's table. No D&D 5E  campaign is complete without a playable Rouge Class!**

* = This is actually 100% true.
** = Despite any whimsical intent, this class is not only completely playable and balanced, but offers new options fully usable by regular rogues, and elements of this product have had large-scale playtesting by D&D groups around the world. No joke, you should really grab this now.

I'm sorry, but if you can't spell 'Rogue" and "Thief" consistently, let alone correctly, in your own description of your product, what's the editing of the content going to be like?

... Oh, wait.

I missed the joke, didn't I?

Never mind. I own it. You got me.

There's a reason they call it "April Fool's Day" instead of "April Accurate Descriptions Day."

If you appreciate the joke here, I suggest downloading the actual title. I worked really hard to keep the humor subtle in a way you might appreciate.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
