The BattleChef

There are many types of edible foods in the world. Some are normal, run of the mill foods with great taste. Hoowever, there are also some special foods, magical foods which have amazing effects when cooked. You've learned how to harness these and create astounding, effective meals.

This Class is inspired by the idea of a spontanious spellcrafter, and partly by the Chef class in Miitopia which I thought was an awesome idea.

Be warned that I dont know how balanced this class is, so if something feels a bit overpowered or underpowered please notify me and possibly tweak it.

Please feel free to give any feedback or suggestions on this, it's truly been a labour of love.

Thank you so much!

Hi, i have question about "Protein Expertise". In text says, "Move up each of the effect dice by one grade." and then "for Lion Loin roll extra 1d4 for each 2 others in the meal." But in description of Lion Loin says "The effect dice is 1d12". in that case, what i need to roll??

And another one. What about "premonition sensitive tastebuds"? i can't figure out what shoul i do. If i roll out 6 on 1d12, i must use it afte consuming meal, or, i can reroll dice if i don't want 6 on 1d12?

As someone who's been playing this class from the 1.2 sheet for several months now, I have to say that I'm loving it. But I do have a few questions.

1) The ingredients pouch. It has a certain number of Charges, which isn't clearly spelled out here, or maybe I'm just blind. Also, cooking time seems to be a thing. In our game, we've been playing as cooking takes a full action, and tossing it to a party member is a bonus, while they must use their reaction to catch it and their bonus to eat it. In our game, my DM has limited me to 10 charges a day, which can hinder what I can cook, but also makes me cook more carefully. That said...

2) Why would anyone cook anything other than Lion Loin + secondary ingredient when on the offensive? Seriously it gives 1 d12, takes 1 charge, and depending on what you cook it with, takes on the effect of whatever secondary ingredient you cook it with. You cook it with limes? 1d12 thunder damage. Mushrooms? 1d12 lightning damage. in 1.2 there was an ingredient...See more

Maybe I'm missing something, but for the lion loin, what effect does it have. It just says there's an effect die of 1d12 but I don't know what effect it's supposed to do.

Hello!

With the lion loin, only the person who takes a bonus action to eat it (the consumer) takes the effect of the meal, instead of spreading the effect in a shape. For example, if they consume a meal with two Varburn Chillis (fire damage effect) and one Accuravioli (adds a value to the next roll), only they will take the 2d12 damage (1d12 per Varburn chilli included) and will have the value added onto their next roll (as decided by rolling the effect die on the effect table). With the other proteins the effects are usually produced from the consumer with them being uneffected.

Might I ask which part was unclear so that I can clarify it for anyone else who might be confused?

Thanks!

Honestly I just wasn't as thorough as I thought. The explanation of how it works is where most people put a brief description of playing the class so I kind of skipped it and went straight to the spells. I apologize, i went back after reading your response and found it. Sorry about that. Everything makes sense though, thanks again.

Hey, I really like this class, however I was just curious if you are done with it or if you are still thinking about it. Im going to be starting a campaign and I want to use a chef class, however I don't want to use a 'dead' class. Also, some aspects of the class do not seem super balanced, like medic's savor. Just wondering if u had playtested it and if it seemed balanced to you.

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

No, I'm afraid I have not playtested it yet so I'm not truly sure how balanced it is. I'm not sure what you mean by a 'dead' class, but if you have any suggestions on how the class can be improved I'd be more than happy to take ideas. I'll look into increasing the amounts of charges the medic's savior requires, that's a good point.

Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
