Complete Revamped 5e character sheets

These sheets were developed over a year of trial and error to reduce page-flipping. The goal was to be simple and elegant, nothing flashy or gaudy. These were created intended to be printed duplex, although that's not a dealbreaker. Since it is no longer available, I made a fork of MPMB's Player Reference Sheet so my players can have easy-to-follow notes. My version of it leaves much of MPMB's text largely intact, with some moderate sectional changes. Since I only adopted it, please give MPMB a big thank you for creating the original reference page (thanks!).

5eRV Sheets

5eRV:

  • Brand new form with alphabetical skills, optimized space, a separate section for racial/background, more room to write spells, and a big ol' section for features and traits!
  • Moved letters inside circles, therefore there's a new system to fill in circles so only letters representing traits are visible. Examples:
    • If a spell requires Material components, fill in (V) and (S) bubbles so that only (M) is visible. If a spell is not Prepared, fill in (P) so it is not visible.
    • If a weapon's damage is slashing, fill in (B) and (P) bubbles so only (S) is visible.
    • If resistant to fire damage, fill in (I) and (V) bubbles so only (R) is visible

Classic:

  • Caster (e.g. Sorcerer, Bard, Warlock) standard + form fillable
  • Non-caster (e.g. Fighter, Monk, Barbarian) standard + form fillable
  • Companion
  • Druid Forms

Inky:

  • Caster (e.g. Sorcerer, Bard, Warlock) standard + form fillable
  • Non-caster (e.g. Fighter, Monk, Barbarian) standard + form fillable
  • Companion
  • Druid Forms

Lovely sheets, wanted to use the fill able ones but the image blocks go grey for background (Appearance and Deity blocks) and can't seem to put images on top either as the grey block appears over it when saving, might have to do with me not using adobe? Still very nice sheets.

This site states files not updated since Dec 2018. Does this mean they do not have the latest 5e Eberron setting as a source? For example, I re-download them would I be able to access Warforged and Artificer data for my CRS?

The sheets themselves are independent of source material. There are no drop down menus etc. that would need to be updated with growing source material. If I'm understanding your question correctly, you should be able to continue use these sheets regardless of any content additions.

I use your sheet which includes source material and the version I use lists Artificer as taken from Unearthed Arcana 2017/01/09. I'm wondering if there is a version updated with the latest Eberron source, Rising From The Last War. Perhaps my comments relate to a different sheet than you are discussing? It is MPMB's Character Record Sheet (v12.999) [Printer Friendly - Redesign]

You are correct, those are a different sheet altogether made by a different author (MPMB), which are available on both the ENWorld and Patreon websites. I am not affiliated with that person/group.

Is there any reason why only 5eRV has an exhaustion metre? I really like Classic and Inky and the fact that the skills are ordered by abilities, and i want to use those but there isn't an exhaustion metre for either. It seems to be the only thing missing between those two and 5eRV, and i was wondering why.

That's a fair question. It's not listed in the description here, but the "Classic" were the original version of this sheet, and when I decided to create the new design, "5eRV" I ceased development on both "Classic" and "Inky" (save for any small errors). As a result, I continued to experiment with the new (5eRV) design, but any changes I made to it were not retroactively added to either of the older sheets. Such as it is, the Conditions block would be the appropriate place to tally Exhaustion levels on Classic/Inky.

I chose not to continue editing Classic/Inky because I felt they were in a good place, and while it's fairly trivial to augment the non-fillable sheets, it's an entire piece of work to remake the fillable sheets even for small changes, and if one gets changed, eventually someone will request a change to the other (or others). Unfortunately, I do not have the time to work on this like I did when I made these initially, and I hope to *eventually* finish...See more

Thanks for the response so quickly! I managed to shift the counter to the others, so I don't really need the source files, but the source files would be pretty good for future edits, as I am planning to add a lifestyle section to the character background, so they would be helpful if you could. These are really good character sheets, by far the best I've ever used and I would like to edit them.

The Inky design sheet has become my new go-to for D&D and I've been using it exclusively to create my characters. Only problem with the form-fillable version of the sheet is that the Backpack section is all askew. https://i.gyazo.com/85f6d18dfcf01589346b5432207991c6.png is how it looks on the PDF; has this been fixed in recent versions? Otherwise this is my absolutely favorite character sheet that provides all the information I need to have for my campaign. I just wish the Standard one also had a specific area for the backpack because I like tracking that information.

Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you're enjoying using them!
I'll give the backpack on Inky another look at get back to you. Unsure on the ETA, might be this week, might be next week.
Unfortunately, I cannot find a sensible way to reincorporate the mini-backpack onto the standard sheets, unless perhaps by shrinking the features section a bit. I'll do a bit of exploration on that too.

The main Revision PDF, Non-Caster only it seems. https://i.gyazo.com/9d74c386ba3b7746c6ca3be4841abc5d.png
The fillable areas still have the lines in them so it makes them difficult to format unless they're being handwritten in.

Just letting you know that I'm hoping to see an update from you soon regarding this awesome set of character sheets. I believe the last suggestions I'd made were a fix-up of the Form-Fillable Standard Sheet (https://i.gyazo.com/9d74c386ba3b7746c6ca3be4841abc5d.png) so that the handwriting guidelines are omitted from the forms and an edit to the Inky Non-Caster character sheet (https://i.gyazo.com/85f6d18dfcf01589346b5432207991c6.png) so that the backpack section is working properly. Don't want to make you feel like I'm rushing you as I understand that things get busy.

I love the designs on these, but the form-fillable versions seem to be only partially working, especially in the stat areas. Maybe it's the pdf sortware I'm using? Are they Acrobat specific? Any ideas?

They shouldn't be acrobat specific. I've tested these with Acrobat, FoxitPDF, Firefox, and Edge and they all seemed to work without issues. Unfortunately, I don't know what is causing this issue. I'm sorry I can't be more help =/

Hey there! I've been spreading love and word of your sheets for almost a year now :) love them lots, but I was wondering if there's a way you could make spell sheets that can hold more spells than they do right now. Between spells known and domain spells, we can't even fit every first level spell of our cleric on there (who has a total of 15 to pick from and prepare every day). Either way, keep up the great work and have a great day!

I can totally do that. The spells page(s) have always been the problem-child for me because you have such limited space to put SO MUCH information. I've never played a cleric before, so can you please help me out by giving me the numbers for how many spells would be necessary per level?

Sure! Doing the math here just goes to show how insane prepared casters are; clerics start with 16-18 known first level spells depending on their domain. It gets even crazier when third level spells show up, which by my count peaks at 23(!) for some domains. It gets tamer beyond that as you approach higher levels with one final grand selection once fifth level spells come around. Druids, from a cursory glance, have similarly large collections to draw from.

So uh... 25 spells per spell level for the first five? That should cover all the bases. Things REALLY narrow down later on with both clerics and druids only knowing four ninth-level spells to choose from. If anyone else wants to check my numbers they're more than welcome to, I'm only human.

The sheets look great, but why did you choose to link the skills with their default Ability? It's much easier to reference the skills when they are in alphabetical order and you can substitute another Ability when it becomes relevant much easier. Aside from the Hit Die, I don't see the benefit. Other than that, the sheets look beautiful. Well done!

Thanks for the feedback. It's personal preference, really. Some people prefer it easier to index via alphabetizing, others prefer the ease of calculation-by-grouping.

After making the druid forms sheet, I noticed a way to make the skills alphabetical (I have unsuccessfully attempted it before), but it required a LOT of restructuring. Here are links to a caster (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1TL3_uFFBscRLm64EeLUdx2cFwqZchDaw) and a non-caster version (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1bbAgQCPCbPtdV7TWSBsW6D_1Ttmm7HA1). I have not play-tested them yet and plan to next week. Let me know how it works for you.

If you aren't trying to improve, then you're just coasting or stagnating, and I like neither of those options. I see every "new feature" as a puzzle as to "how can I make this work but also look good and be functional?" I use these sheets too for a campaign which I'm a player in, so I too am sensitive to things I would want and things aren't working. Let me know how it is. I've made a few updates (spacing, attacks per round) to the sheets I linked, but nothing overhaul-y, so I won't bother updating the google drive links just yet, or at least not until I test them out myself. Also, if you have the time, please do leave a rating and/or review! Thanks!

This might be incredibly obtuse, but why do the ability scores have two little circles. I can only think that one writes one's ability score and the bonus provided... what's the other one for?

It's alright, I get that question a lot, so I made a reference sheet a while ago. Since you mentioned it, I'll bundle it with the download, but here's a link to it:
https://static.wixstatic.com/media/a4d2a0_47fb6af1eb194acd8ebad0ac8a25e73a~mv2_d_1275_1650_s_2.png/v1/crop/x_0,y_0,w_1274,h_1650/fill/w_600,h_777,al_c,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01/a4d2a0_47fb6af1eb194acd8ebad0ac8a25e73a~mv2_d_1275_1650_s_2.png

In short, for the three larger circles, I like to use the smaller top one as the ability score, the one below it for item/spell bonus and the largest one for the ability mod (since it's the one you actually use most often). For the Skills, the largest circle is to write in the final skill score, the larger of two touching circles is to fill in for proficiency, and the smaller of the two for expertise.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
