title

Let’s be honest, you don’t want to be here, no one ever wants to be here, but it’s late now and you are on this damned place. My job here as an infernal ranger is to help people like you to survive the dangers of Avernus and teach them some nice tricks to make your life just a little easier, though many of those tricks needs you to do some questionable acts, but that’s how it works down here. So, ¿Are you ready? Good, now grab the tongue of this condemned soul, we are making a slingshot out of it.

-Azzael Ulbrinter.

Contents

Welcome to hell! In this Descent into Avernus supplement you will find:

  • Trickster imps that will ask you for little pranks, they might not look evil at the start, but will slowly corrupt you.
  • Interesting ideas on how to take advantage, and torture, lemures. This will make your players think twice before selling their souls.
  • Rules to scavenge fiend's corpses, to make from new war machine stations to magic items.
  • Two new flying war machines and four new fiends, that will test your party friendship and will.

Special thanks to Stephen Rübner for his adventure template, and to Matt Norton's Stat Block template.

If you like any of this, please tell me on comments or reviews and i would love to do more of what people like the most from here.

Really enjoying the supplement and I will add a proper review once my players work through the material but I got a few questions.
1. Why does the Flying Pain (a hot air balloon) weigh more then Flying Nightmare (A war blimp?). Not a huge deal but something if you intend to do an edit in the future you might want to look at for consistency.
2. Should the flying war machines have a higher HP pool? Right now they have a really high AC which is great but the Flying Pains can be shot out of the sky with a lightning bolt and the Flying Nightmares with only 100hp can depending on the level you introduce them be something that be shot out of the sky in a single round by dedicated PCs.

Hi! Thanks for the comment and the review! :)

1) Good point, I remember researching real hot air balloons and blimps to add the weight, maybe I mixed them up in some point. I will certainly fix it for its next update.

2) It is intended for the Flying machines to have low HP, the hot air balloons aren't meant for war, while the blimps have a better AC and armor, but as real blimps a single scratch could destroy them.

And answering to the review and the suggestion about adding an encounter for the air balloons, nice idea! When I saw your post in Facebook I regretted not finishing my campaign with a war in the sky.

Bazelsteen's Notebook is "about" to reach Silver medal, when it does so I will:
i) Update it to add an encounter in the sky.
ii) Update Azzael's Guide to fix the problem from 1)
iii) Add a sidebar to Azzael's Guide with some ideas to use the flying machines
iv) Maybe (if my next project does well), I will update the ""art""...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
