Ceremorphs, Mind Flayer aberrations (half-Illithid) for D&D 5th edition

Suggested Price $4.00

This supplement is about the results of alternative versions of Ceremorphosis. In this process, half-illithid aberrations are created.

Some of these monsters are updates of Ceremorphs that existed in previous editions of Dungeons & Dragons, but with many changes. The rest are new creations from my imagination, based on some illustrations from Wizards of the Coast.

I’ve been running an update 5e spelljammer campaign with Illithids as a main Antagonist since it fits the setting very well. I have greatly enjoyed using this as a reference for lore and flavor. The party is just getting into high enough levels to use some of these monsters and I’m unsure about the CR on some of the creatures. I think I may end up killing some PC’s

Oh, they didn't have that in the Fiend Folio, but I've found the Dragon Magazine that I think you are referencing. I'll make sure to add that attack in the next revision.
Thank you for pointing it out!

It's still a little too early for me to place a review, but I want to make one particular comment: you should revisit your CR ratings. I know they're speculative ratings, but they're generally a ballpark estimate. I don't think yours are quite where they need to be, though.

For instance, the Brain Seeker is listed as a CR1 creature. It has an AC of 18, is nearly impossible to surprise (Telepathic Awareness), has multiattack, and its biting attack (if it hits both times) ends up with a range of 10-46 damage in one turn - and much more with a critical. Without magical interference, I think the most health a player can have at level 1 is 19 (Barbarian 1d12, +5 Con, +2 from Tough feat V.Human). Looking through some of the MM CR1s, the first I found that did comparable damage were Hippogriffs who run with a drastically lower 11AC.

Overall, I love the book and I'll be giving it 4 stars in its current condition - I really enjoy the effort with the lore, the variety of creatures, and their abilities...See more

Hi, Doug, I'm glad you liked it. I'll check the CR of the monsters again and fix it.
Thank you for your comment!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
