The Essentials: Sidekick Sheets

Suggested Price $0.99

The D&D Essentials Kit introduced us to the official rules for sidekick characters. These 1/4 page sidekick character sheets are intended to be used in place of the stat blocks found in the D&D Essentials Kit on pg. 63. Perfect for those one-on-one games or those looking to fill out the rest of their party.

A few of small notes:

1. Be aware that all sidekick characters start with a +2 proficiency bonus that is already calculated into their "Actions" on the stat-blocks found on pg. 63 of the Essentials Kit Rulebook.

2. I've left most of the fields blank so that these sheets are as customizable as possible.

3. Print front and back on higher quality stock such as resume paper for best results, and be sure to use the "Print to Fit" option on your printer or the edges of your sheets may be cut off.

4. Be sure to cut along the guide lines running across the middle of the sheet after you've printed front and back.

5. Enjoy!

If you notice anything amiss, just let me know and I'll do my best to fix it.

UPDATE:

Added a page of blank custom sidekick sheets, front and back (pgs. 4-5).

Added 72 dpi version & 300 dpi version. 300 dpi is slightly sharper, but significantly larger. 4mb vs 60+ mbs.

UPCOMING: I am currently working on sidekick sheets for the additional sidekicks found in The Essentials: Sidekicks Expanded.

I appriciate the work and the effort for make this sheet, but the pdf structure is not usefull for a PG or DM: Each page have 4 sheet merged, making it useless for a single sidekick purpose (especialy if dedicated as player companion/follower). It will be usefull have 1 sheet for each type, followed by a party sheet for GM porpuse with only core informations.
Can you make it?

I wasn't concerned about form fillable PDFs when I originally downloaded this, but now I am. I have started adding the text boxes to the PDF using Libre Office, which is pretty handy, but I would like to see this revisited. It would be nice to have some of the sheet expanded for Tasha's, and form fillable would be a nice addition. I am currently building a character creator, and I have the code to push out to the PDF fields to quickly make sidekicks and PCs, but I have to add the fields myself for this to work with this sheet. I might make some adjustments myself so there are only 2 sidekicks to a sheet, with the front printing on the left and the back on the right. Lane, if you are interested in working together on this, let me know. I am sure it would be easier for you to create the new source than for me to make the adjustments.

But thanks for the product regardless. It has been helpful.

some of the spell casters spells are filled in when it shouldn't be. and you don't have room for 4th and 5th level spells.

These are awesome! Just a few notes after my first look at it (I'm specifically looking at the blank sheets):

There doesn't need to be two spots for armor on the front next to the weapon name because most characters will only one set of armor that they wear. In fact, it would probably be better to use all of the space and have that be an equipment box instead so that you can just have the armor listed if you want.

Next to it is the weapon area (that's fine) but the spell save DC and spell attack bonus boxes are on every page, even when the back page has the open lined area for features. I'm assuming that this is suppose to be the Warrior or Expert pages since they don't have spell slots, so not having those on the front would just help not confuse people as to why it's blank (I'm using double sided so if you aren't, this is probably fine).

Lastly, the Spellcaster sidekick spell page is too lopsided. There are eight spots for cantrips when they can't get more than four,...See more

These are pretty nice, was disappointing they were not form fillable. But that's my fault for not checking before buying.

Hello Lane! Cool and useful work! Are you looking for some freelance rpg work? (related to design a bunch of Sidekicks, but for a 5e campaign setting on KS). Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi Jean Michel,
I apologize for the late reply. Life has been hectic of late, but if the offer is still available I’d love to discuss your project with you via email.

Hi Patricio,

At this time there are unfortunately no plans for a form fillable version of these sheets.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
