"Clonns are the abnormal normal, often compared to humans as their exaggerated facsimile. But amongst both humans and the more seasoned races, they've yet to truly find their niche. Instead they have taken to learning anything and everything about the world, gaining a taste of competency in whatever they put their minds to. Many celebrate their place in life, offering support or cheer to those in need. But some endeavor to break past their limits and venture out in pursuit of prominence."

- V. Sir House of Barovia of Barovia

This playable clown race comes with a sample of clonnish lore, their traits, and racial feats to let you jump right into a campaign bright-eyed and rosy-nosed!

Clonns are featured in the supplementary rule book The Book of House

I am disappointed that a lot of the detail found in The Book of House about clonns is left out, including twisted humor.
Though I bought this more as a donation to charity so I can't be too mad.

Hi Vivianna!
I totally feel you on the missing content. The standalone clonns supplement was kept short and sweet for easy access--BUT! We made sure that in the Preview mode for The Book of House, the entire clonns chapter was freely available to read (including the Twisted Humors). It's a bit of extra legwork, but hopefully everyone can be on the same clowny page.

Also thank you for donating!! I really appreciate it

Is this still true? I went to look at the Preview mode for Book of House but it's just a single page about the Great Wyrm Patron.

Very fun concept and great details about Clonns and their specalities.
I am very excited to try them out.
I have had thoughts for a race of clowns and a community of them before.
Even having some elements from the Neil Sedaka song 'King of Clowns' as a theme in a story.
So this allows me to explore that!

My only concern about this Clonn Race PDF is that it doesn't include a lot of the wonderful extras from the book.
Nothing on feats you can purchase for them.
As well as the deities are also missing.
Of course if one wants the full experience, getting the whole book is needed.
But It would be nice to have all the extras which make this Race playable would be nice.

Question: Is Clonn adventure league legal? I will be so disappointed if it isn't.

Hi Robert! I don't think they're legal yet, but I'll see if I can talk to Wizards about it! :)

I'm looking at the racial feats, and they don't specify what level you get them at; it seems like having them right from the start would be a little unfair

Hi Kaelan! Racial feats are intended to function like normal feats, where a DM may give you the opportunity to take a feat instead of an ASI (level 4, level 8, etc). I think they're specifically referred to as racial feats to give the reader a quick sign that only a specific race gets them.

I hope that helps!

So I may be misunderstanding this. Do Clonns gain proficiency in any skills?

Hi Matt! Clonns do not gain any proficiencies from their race. Polymathic is closer to the Jack of All Trades ability of the Bard. It applies to all skills whether or not you have proficiency.

After you figure out all your skill check bonuses, you turn any +0 or +1 into a +2. Then, you look for any skills that have a -1, -2, etc. and turn it into a +0.

Hope that helps!

Hi over T!

We tried the download on a few machines and it was working for us, although DMs Guild has been acting pretty funky recently! Let me know if you're still having problems downloading or opening it and I'll try to figure it out for you!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
