THIS IS A VTT MODULE FOR Fantasy Grounds

Aaron Gentry, aka VeX Presents

VeX's Random Treasure Tables

Do you wish you could quickly roll for random treasure for every encounter, even random encounters?  Do you wish you could just go to one place in Fantasy Grounds and click only a single button and not only does it roll for coin treasure, but mundane items, magic items, trinkets, mundane weapons/armor, etc?  And that one button push puts it all in a convienient parcel, ready to drop on the Party Sheet and award treasure to your players!?

Then this is the module for you!

What it included?

  • A set of tables designed for rolling for random treasure in Fantasy Grounds based on encounter Challenge Rating.
  • A set of tables of mundane items, common weapons, uncommon weapons, affordable armors, and expensive armors.
  • (Optional) Integrates with the 5E Random Treasure Generator extension with step-by-step instructions for implementation with that extension.
  • Integrates with VeX's Trinket Hoard so every encounter has a small chance of dropping a random trinket with the treasure parcel.
Olog's Random Treasure Generator extension for FG Classic can be found @ https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?44001-5E-Random-Treasure-Generator
mgummelt's FG Unity extension can be found @ https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?44001-5E-Random-Treasure-Generator&p=516300&viewfull=1#post516300

(DMsGuild does not allow links to other sites, but these extensions are not 'products' and are not for sale.  They is free.)

I cannot guarantee that these tables will always work with the extensions, but the tables ALWAYS work by rolling manually on the appropriate CR table for the encounter you wish to roll treasure for.
* This is a module for Fantasy Grounds and is NOT usable outside of the Fantasy Grounds software.  In addition, it also requires two other modules to function properly:
  • The 5th Edition D&D Dungeon Master's Guide module for Fantasy Grounds, which can be purchased here on DMsGuild, directly from Smite Works (Fantasy Grounds), or on Steam.
  • VeX's Trinket Hoard module.
Because of these requirements, if you do want to reward my work with some of your hard earned money, please do not go over the suggested price!  I did do some work to make this, but it still utilizes tables made by Wizard of the Coast in their DMG module and for the best functionality, Olog's Random Treasure Generator extension does a lot of the work too.  For that reason, I really don't want anyone paying more than the suggested price.

Come here to post just this; it had been working fine for me until recently. Now has the 'unable to find matching table'. Downloaded files again and started from scratch just in case but no fix.

Same here, bought it but its "unable to find matching table" and I'm sure I did everything as the instructions said.
IT DOES, however, work manually. As in, just click on the CR table equal to your encounter and it will roll normally. It just wont roll from the Encounter window

Sorry guys. As the description says, I didn't make either extension and I did make the tables so they would work with the extensions, but since both are out of date and no longer work in the most recent version of FGU and I have no idea when or if their authors will ever update them, there's not much I can do to support that functionality.

However, the tables do still work manually, though there are a few known conflicts with other extensions that manage parcels if you're rolling results into a parcel. If you are having problems rolling the tables manually into a parcel, try changing the results to Chat or Story instead and then you can drag the results into a parcel manually. But that should only be necessary when there is a conflict.

This is part of the reason why I've had this product listed as "Pay What You Want". I always knew there would be times when the extension authors would be behind in updating their extensions, and most likely a time when they'd give up on updating...See more

Thanks, wasn't sure where the issue was. The tables are very helpful even when used manually. Thanks for you work.

This thread looks dead, but maybe I will get lucky. Whenever I use the generate random treasure parcel button on an encounter, in the chat it shows it only rolls a D1 for what to get on the table, so I only get money. If I manually use the table, it rolls a d100 and so I have a chance of rolling on the items tables. Is there a fix for this?

It sounds like you didn't get the tables copied correctly, or you don't have the correct modules/books loaded. Whether you're using the Unity Extension or the Classic Extension, setting up the tables follows the same steps:

1. Drag the tables FROM my module into the "Random Treasure Generator Extension" table group. Make sure they are copies and you're not just moving the tables. You can ensure they are copies by going to my tables and dragging and dropping them in the same Table group so they say "(copy)" at the end. Move those copies to the appropriate group.

2. The tables won't work if you don't have the tables from this module, the official Dungeon Master's Guide, and my Trinket Horde all Loaded in Fantasy Grounds.

EDIT: If you follow these instructions and are still having problems getting it to work correctly, you can find me on the Grim Press Discord and I'll help you figure it out. @VeX

Thank you for the quick reply. I will double check when I get home from work. I thought I followed the instructions on your video pretty well. Do I need to remove "copy" from the end of the table after I move it or something like that maybe? I didn't think of that. I will try again tonight and hit you up on discord if it doesn't work. thanks.

No, you don't have to remove (copy), but they do need to be in the right Table "group" and you do have to have the DMG loaded.

The olog extension doesn't work in FGU at all.

There is an extension listed in that same thread here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?44001-5E-Random-Treasure-Generator&p=516300&viewfull=1#post516300) that some people have success with it.

Personally, I use my own tables without the extension, just manually rolling on the appropriate CR table.

Hey Nicholas,

Do you also have the 5th Edition D&D Monster Manual? Are both the Monster Manual and the Trinket Hoard extension loaded in the Library window?

I'm seeing the same issue with Olog's extension not working in FGU.

So I looked at the gen_treas.lua and it seems to me that the importTreasureTables() function isn't properly finding the "Random Treasure Generator Extension" table category. So it creates it and adds the sample table.

It also fails to then find any tables in that category and thus won't use any other tables you've made. I'm using VeX's tables here:
https://www.dmsguild.com/product/269075/VeXs-Random-Treasure-Tables-Fantasy-Grounds

I'm looking at trying to fix this script to properly locate that table category and read in the tables that are there, I'll update if I manage to fix that.

But, in the meantime, I've found a quick fix: just edit the defaultTiers map of tables at the top of the importTreasureTables() function to default to the tables you want to use. I did this for VeX's tables like so:
function importTreasureTables()
local defaultTiers=
{{0,4,...See more

Hmm, wait, those CR 0-4 tables must have come with the Olog extension, not your mod. I'll have to read through how to integrate your tables into that mod

Okay, using my fixed .lua script, and copying your VeX tables into the "Random Treasure Generator Extension" category, these tables now work with Ogol's extension in FGU.

In the same thread where Olog's extension is, there is another extension someone made that works for Unity. Olog's Extension is for Classic Only.

Do you mean the extension with "Random Treasure Generator of Olog"?
Yes but his extension, roles a dice for every single creature in the encounter, which generates way to much loot for me I feel. I really like your tables has a good balance of loot, and other treasure. Only thing is the collum become very narrow which makes the tables a bit unreadable, I adjusted it by a few backspace but after closing the table it would revert back to this earlier shape. Though FGU still in Beta so maybe it will work in the future, considering that FGC probably don't have this issue. But thanks I really love this extension its best out there I think!

I'm sorry you're having troubles opening it.
Did you download the file in the correct directory?

Fantasy Grounds Modules need to be saved in Modules subfolder of the Fantasy Grounds Data Folder.

Once it's in the correct directory, and you are loaded into a Fantasy Grounds campaign as a Host/DM, you load the module from the Library > Modules menu.

Once there, the tables will be accessible from the "Tables" button.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
