This is a great study guide with summaries of many places. I like to read and reread this, to help learn the book better, but then refer to the real book for what's canon.

There is a big caveat though:
The idea of preparing "travel days" from page 4 on this guide isn't part of Tomb of Annihilation proper. I prefer the standard procedure listed in ToA with randomly rolled encounters, con saves after drinking water and sleeping etc.

And that's my advice to other DMs too, don't miss out on the fun of real hexcrawling♥

Is the PDF still corrupted for people? As much as I like PSB I don't want to spend money on something incomplete/broken. Thanks.

It appeared corrupted for me, too, but it was just missing the .pdf file extension. I added the file extension, and then it opened fine in my PDF viewer (I'm on macOS).

Edit: A minute after I left the above comment, I tried viewing the file in Preview again, and Preview keeps crashing. So, I take back what I said. It appears to have some problems with it. However, I'm able to open the PDF in a web browser (Chrome) and view it there without any problems.

Hi Sean. I dropped some coin on this recently, and I am also wondering if Page 43 is the end of this guide?

Page 43 (Level 6: Cradle of the Death God; Ebon Pool) is the correct ending page. It seems abrupt but that is exactly where the original blog post ends as well.

It seems to me the pdf file has been corrupted. It manages to reproducibly crash Preview on Mac OSX, and other viewers seem to have problems with it as well. I have other products by this creator and those work without problem.

same here, bought this two days ago. Went back to find the boat maps Sean talks about in his post on PowerScore about how to start the adventure and he says they are on page 67?
Unless he is refrencing another book

The three boats are listed on page 67 of the Tomb of Annihilation source book from WotC.

A comment/discussion rather than a review, because this wasn't quite what I expected, so I don't know if I can rate it fairly. I don't think the preview pages are a representative sample.

For the most part, this document is a "cliff's notes" version of Tomb Of Annihilation. I would recommend it largely if you want to run the adventure mostly from a laptop or tablet, with less needing to return to the physical book. There are some other ideas in there, but if you are primarily looking for ideas to reign in what can be an aimless sandbox, you might be better off going with the same author's "Tomb of Annihilation Companion" instead. The prepared wilderness travel encounters you see in the preview are repeated there.

To be frank, other than the inspiration to pre-plan wilderness encounters instead of using random tables, I have not found this useful. But that's because I'm pretty big on making my own notes. At 43 pages, if you don't like writing your own notes, it's not...See more

I'm just reading through it and I'm really gonna enjoy having this to pull from.

One small issue - the book states that extradimensional spaces do function as intended in the Tomb, just that any magic cast inside said extradimensional space is subject to the same rules as anything else cast in the Tomb.

p128 - "Magic that summons creatures or objects from other
planes functions normally, as does magic that involves
the creation of an extradimensional space. Any spells
cast with in an extradimensional space (such as that created by rope trick) are subject to the same restrictions
as magic cast in the tomb."

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
