Ironslag - Box Text Companion - Storm King's Thunder

Greetings~
I am Søren Kraak Wollenberg,
and I have a confession to make:

"I like Box Text"

Yes, I know that is a controversial statement, but I must speak my heart!

What is found within this document is a list of area-descriptions attributed
different locations and encounters, designed for the purpose of streamlining
the conveying of information relating to the given areas.
Additionally, the document will provide occasional suggestions for how
to handle different scenarios, as well as how to expand them further
than their original source did within "Storm King's Thunder"
This being done in this case for the mountain lair of the Fire Giant Duke.

IRONSLAG

It is no secret that Box Text is an unpopular aspect of Dungeons & Dragons to many
Dungeon Masters and Players, so this companion piece will not be for everybody.
However, if you are an individual who likes "zoning-out" momentarily and attempt
to imagine the furnishings of a dungeon chamber, or the surroundings of a forest
glade, or if you simply enjoy having an easier time finding what to describe to your
players during game-sessions, or if you simply struggle with remembering every
minor detail of every single dungeon area, then I hope this document will provide.

"Ironslag - Box Text Companion - Storm King's Thunder"

Is the first entry in what intend to become a series of releases,
eventually encompassing the entirety of the Lairs of the Giant Lords,
as well as all additional, relevant Dungeons described within
"Storm King's Thunder"
All with the eventual goal of releasing a "Super Box Text Companion"
containing the by then all former releases published by me.

Check out the newest entry within this series, featuring the Eye of the All-Father:

Now, with all of that out of the way, good luck taking down the Lair of the Fire Giant Duke!

This is great. It would be even greater if there was a PDF with selectable text to incorporate into DM notes.

There you go, a new PDF has been added.
I literally wasn't aware that the text wasn't selectable, so thank you for pointing out this problem.

I am just starting the campaign and, while I LOVE the concept behind it, I was wondering where all the boxed text was. I also like boxed text which I can read as is or embellish or whatever but this is serisouly lacking. Any chance of making more concerning the lower levels? The beginning maybe? lol Either way, thank you for doing this!

"The lower levels"
"The beginning"

I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to when you write that?
You mean the bottom floor and the beginning-area of Ironslag?
-If so, not really, I'm personally pretty happy with what I've thrown together.
Boxed text is not particularly well liked among some D&D Players or DMs,
and as such, they shouldn't be too long.

Or are you referring to the lower levels and beginning of the Adventure itself?
So whether I'd be writing products for the goblin-cavern in Chapter.1 or similarly low level dungeons?
-If so, yes and no. I have no intention of writing up products for the general travelling-locations of Faerûn,
neither do I have any plans for writing up products for the starting locations like Golden Fields or Bryn Shander.
I could see myself potentially make stuff for the Goblin-caverns, but as it stands, the lowest level area I
was planing to write information...See more

What is this aversion to Box Text you speak of? Not me! I'm DMing Storm King's Thunder currently and have been struggling with the lack of Box Text. I was about to start working on my own, not looking forward to the amount of prep time it would require, and then I saw this. If you can, please make more!!! This one was GREAT!!

There will be more without question.
How quickly and in what order I'll have them made I cannot say
(making just one was quite a lot of work; work I enjoyed, but work none-the-less)

I am considering going for the temple of the oracle and the court of the Storm Giants next,
since those will be of the most use to the largest amount of people.

Thank you for this product. I too am a fan of boxed text and was worried about DMing Storm King's Thunder which basically has none. Now, I think I will have an easier time.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
