Version 2 available!

This is a set of 42 Token Markers for D&D 5e, primarily intended for use on Roll20.net. They come in 512x512px png format, ideal for uploading to Roll20.

The default Token Marker Set of Roll20 does not really fit well to D&D 5e, so I created this set as a replacement.

Uploading custom token markers is free for any Roll20 user, even without a subscription. See links in the included credits text file.

This set includes markers for all Dungeons and Dragons 5e conditions, as well as markers for common buffs, spells, and debuffs. They are, by default, ordered roughly by how likely they are to occur, and grouped by benefits/detriments. They are also colored depending on whether the status provides a bonus or a malus, or are neutral (concentration).

The markers were designed with clarity in mind, even when viewed from far away/at a very low zoom level. I was trying to find a good compromise between expressiveness and clarity. All markers are based on icons from game-icons.net and have been altered for extra clarity.

Version 2: Some icons have been updated, and some new icons have been added. New icons include things like Hex, Reckless attacks, Guiding light (for Guiding Bolt, Branding Smite, Faerie Fire...), Shifted Form (Shifters, Lycanthropes...), and more.

The original set is still included for those familiar with the set.

I've also added a "Core" subset for those that want less clutter with only the most essential icons, but feel free to just delete icons that don't fit into your campaign as you see fit.

Please only use the V2 zip file!

These are open source icons that you can get and edit for free on https://game-icons.net/

True! They are based on open source icons and the set is freely available here as well if you want. All authors are attributed in the readme.

Also, all icons have been adjusted for high contrast at the size that they are usually viewed at as token markers, and to remain readable on any background/token.
Some icons have been reworked fully to better represent the conditions without using tiny features that can't be seen at small scale.
And of course, much thought went into finding the best ways to show and differentiate the many different but often fairly similar conditions (such as stunned vs. incapacitated vs. paralyzed...), and to group and order them in a way that will best support players and DM's during the game.

Roll20 have just added a tutorial video about adding token sets to your game on their youtube channel - just search for "Setting up Token Markers in Roll20 | Roll20 Tutorial"

These are really nice and work well with Roll20. A suggestion adding Hex to the token list.

It might sound weird, but HOW did you put those into your game? I mean, did you do the correct procedure?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
