In races that have few offspring such as elves this is very rare, but races that often have several offspring such as humans this is less rare. Your connection is such that you can combat and learn about creature not native to your world more easily. This origin is not recommended for a player that does not have its origin on the material plane.

Such things as beast, humanoids, dragons, giants and even monstrosities are more common in the world then creature of other planely origin.
