This is my revision of the 5E Ranger.

I decided to do this because the Ranger class felt subpar compared to the others, and I tried to enhance the class' features while maintain the core flavors of the class that most people enjoyed. I focused around these concepts: having an animal companion that isn't too strong nor too weak, maintaing the Ranger's combat prowess regardless of Archetype (currently lacknig unless you use the Hunter Archetype), having some spells, and having an attunement to the environment that provides benefits for the Ranger.

Here is a summary of notable changes:

1. Favored Enemy removed, Animal Companion added - made the pet a little weaker, but also easier to manage in combat. Doesn't take up your whole action anymore, instead may use bonus action to command it. Also wrote a short descriptor for how it should act when not commanded that I think is balanced, but needs testing

2. Fighting Styles Revamped - attempt at making each of the four choices more in par with each other. Defense was removed and a Great Weapon Fighting option was added. Duelist made to be opportunity attack oriented. Archery changed to the Close Quarters Combat described in WotC's Unearthed Arcana.

3. Improved Fighting Styles added - Rangers should be able to hold their own in combat through their techniques in fighting. This emulates the flavor that Rangers had back in 3.5, having one specialized way of fighting that they focus on. The current Ranger lacked combat potential unless the Hunter archetype was chosen; this was added to make the Ranger competent in fighting without being archetype dependent.

4. Primeval Awareness changed to Lay of the Land - Used the 3.5 spell of the same name; this change felt to me as something Rangers should have and adds to the flavor of the Ranger as a character in tune with environment. Primeval Awareness might be added later as a feature in an archetype.

5. Hide in Plain Sight altered and made part of Natural Explorer - this felt really weak, and felt like something Rangers should have, but maybe not as an ability of its own earned at a higher level; it also made sense that it only applies in favored terrain.

6. Vanish removed, Ambuscade added - Vanish as a 14th level ability was rather subpar; replaced it with the Ambuscade ability in WotC's Unearthed Arcana, which I believed was too strong for level 1 characters. This feature builds upon the idea that Rangers are prepared and ready at all times.

7. Foe Slayer - revamped since I thought it is currently much too weak for a level 20 ability when compared to other classes. Unsure how the new benefits may work, so likely I will have to change this.

Summary: Ranger changed to feel more combat-able without depending on an archetype to do so. Will now have an animal companion regardless of archetype as well. Spellcasting remains the same as is, and overall flavor of the Ranger as one who gains benefits and move comfortably through the land without fear.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
