Leilon: City of Adventure

Leilon: City of Adventure is a module designed to aid you, the DM, with over 40 pages describing the ruined town as it stands today and also provides 4 adventures for character levels 3 to 8.  The module is broken down into chapters.  The first describes a farm converted into a small keep outside the ruined town that is used as a staging base for adventuring parties and provides several NPCs with statistics and magic items.  The next chapter breaks down the town into districts and describes the general features and several ideas for DMs to create their own adventures.  The next four chapters provide readymade adventuring sites such as the Old Inn, the Tinsmith, and a sunken pirate ship known as the Sea Shark.  There is also an appendix with all the NPCs, a competing adventuring party, and several new monsters.

My intent in creating this module is for additional DMs to expand on what I started.  I wanted to provide a framework of how the town is today and provide several ideas and threats for others to flesh out or even create new ideas themselves.  There are mines under the town, a floating wizard tower, a ghost druid grove and many other ideas.  I intend on making more adventures and posting them as they are created.

8.4.16:  Corrected some of the language based on comments and added a missing construct I had created.

Hi Keith - I've purchased all of the Leilon adventures currently listed at DM's Guild, but it looks like I'm missing #12 and #14. Are there adventures that aren't currently available, or is there a numbering error?

I never finished and posted 13 and 14 from the series. Numbers 15-20 were part of a new campaign, but could easily be used with the others.

My group and I are thoroughly enjoying this adventure. I've even started to write a supplement for our campaign in Leilon. Do you have a follow on adventure into the mines through the sinkhole under The Old Inn? If not, I'll probably expand the story down there.

I noticed quite a few typos and inconsistencies. If you would ever like a volunteer editor, let me know!

You are very kind in your words and offer. I do not have any plans on expanding on that adventure. I tend to write the modules for my home group and plan on what I think would be fun for them. This may lead to problems where I know how things roll, but do not convey it on paper like I would like. I think some of my later modules are better in writing and proofreading, but I also realize that I am far from professional. I am mostly a fan and player of the game and hope others find use from my work and enjoy it.

I'm just a fan too. And now a fan of Leilon as well. :) I'm @kvdrpg on Twitter if you'd like to direct message me or through the contact on kvdrpg.com. I couldn't find a way to do a direct message to you on this site and don't want to leave my email address out in public.

How do all the Leilon modules tie together? Do they branch off this one or are they completely disconnected sharing only a location? If it's the latter do certain modules conflict with others?

Some of the modules follow another one. The House of Lucerin Gray introduces some of the basement levels of the Church of Lathander, but it does not need to come first. I actually had 2 parties going on different adventures depending on who showed up. Some are for the 4-6 level party and others are for the 7-9 level party.

I have not gotten that far. I have another group that I game with still in Leilon so I'm still makeing new adventures. I'm working on one now where the PCs encounter the last lord of Leilon who was a paladin of Tyr. They need to recover the key that will open the Temple of Tyr which has remained sealed all these years.

In the later modules you marked the buildings. But in this Module you did not. Is there any plans to mark the buildings used by the three adventures herein
?

I was not planning on marking these buildings. I wanted to leave the city map blank for other DMs to have for their use and did not think that they were needed. The Lighthouse and the Inn I thought were self explanatory and the others were in general areas described in the adventure. I can mark these and provide another map to use if more people start to ask for it. Thank you

Thank you for bringing this up. I changed a few of the encounters to make sense better and added some ideas for how the town will change due to PC actions. I also added a new construct I missed earlier.

I like the mood set by this book. I hope to be able to use pieces of it in my Waterdeep campaign. There are a couple of issues -- the first "adventure" for the pirate ship seems to be missing the number of monsters in a couple of parts. The "what's next" section is also out of place.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
