Suggested Price $0.99

Everyone makes mistakes, and when you’re playing with the very fabric of the universe, sometimes those mistakes have surprising, harmful, or spectacular consequences.

Tired of rolling on the same-old table of 50 magical effects from the Player's Handbook? This table provides 100 brand-new effects that can be used as sorcerers’ wild magic surges, hazardous effects of casting in an area that crackles with magical energy, or any similarly appropriate situation. Cheat sheets for relevant spell effects and monsters are also included.

Excellent resource with a good variation of good, bad, and whimsical. Definitely recommended. I use it for wild magic zones.

Love this list, and the additional info at the end is handy.

Fantastic resource. Think there might be one error (otherwise quite an interesting choice); number 21 states "one of the caster's eyes turns into a 500gp sapphire"; not sure if this is meant to be target, instead of caster? Otherwise, what happens if it happens twice? Feel the character might get a bit annoyed becoming blind. On the other hand, having one eye as a jeweled sapphire sounds like a pretty cool character quirk.

Hi there! Great questions. Here's what I thought while I was writing it.

I did mean for it to be the caster whose eye transforms, trying to keep a mix of good and bad things for the caster. (Losing sight in one eye is a definite bummer, but could be an interesting character quirk, just as you said!) However, I'd also encourage the DM to take the ball and run with it, so to speak. If I were running the game and the caster lost both their eyes, I'd have the character be blind for a bit -- but then talk with the player to see how they felt about it. I'd probably offer them a short quest or some other means for them to regain their sight, turning the sapphires into something like Geordi La Forge's visor. So what started as a penalty could turn into an advantage.)

But basically, I'd encourage the DM to take this table as a jumping-off point, and do whatever results in the most fun for their players.

Thanks a ton for downloading this, and for commenting! It really means a lot to...See more

80 - I'm not sure how much of a problem a transparent cranium is, since the cranium is the top of the skull, but it would still be covered with flesh, so how would that be apparent? The material doesn't change, so there's no threat there, but it can't even be a distraction.

Ha! Indeed. I suppose I meant that their flesh would turn clear as well -- and probably have all their hair fall out, now that I think of it. Sort of like Cranium Rats. (I can't remember if they're in the Monster Manual or Mordenkainen's or what, but an image search should bring them up.)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
