Wild Magic Sorcerer is one of the most unique and exciting classes to play as. But when wild magic surges should occur is left partly to the DM's judgment. These rulings seek to change that, creating a system in which surges happen often and entirely out of the DM's hands, although not entirely beyond the player's influence through Tides of Chaos.

In addition, there is also a new optional feature, Unreal Resonance, that makes the effects of altering fate and surrounding yourself with chaotic magic much more immediate. As your odds of a wild magic surge increase, reality becomes increasingly unstable around you.

In what situation could you have Unreal Resonance greater than 20?

Hi, thanks for asking. The short answer is that it can happen because your Wild Magic Threshold increases *after* you make the roll to see whether a surge occurs, and because it can increase by more than 1 point at a time (by casting higher level spells).

For example:
- I cast a 7th level spell while my threshold is 1.
- I check for a surge and roll above a 1; instead of triggering a surge, my threshold increases by 7, making it 8.
- I cast a 5th level spell while my threshold is 8.
- I check for a surge and roll above an 8; instead of triggering a surge, my threshold increases by 5, making it 13.
- I cast a 9th level spell while my threshold is 13.
- I check for a surge and roll above a 13; instead of triggering a surge, my threshold increases by 9, making it 22.

In order to get to the crazy high effects, it's necessary to first get your threshold high but below 20, then use wild magic surge, then cast a high level spell AND get lucky on the roll to...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
