Weapons Expanded Vol. 1

Some people say that 5E has a serious problem about how lackluster physical combat can be, how all the weapons feel the same, and how proficiency doesn't really feel like.... It shows how skillful someone is with weapons.

This present homebrew here has the intent of fixing that, with the use of a new mechanic that enhances the proficiency mechanic, adding a whole new level of depth to combat, and another aspect which should help make characters feel more unique and distinguished from each other. All avoiding sacrificing the streamlined design of 5E that we all know and love so much.

Not only that, I've also reworked the weapons on the core game, trying to make them all feel more unique and trying to make so that each had something going for it. Remember the completely remarkless 1d8 flail from the core rules? Well, go on and take a look at the pdf, I can promisse it's a head turner now.

This was the my first take on it. There is now a Volume 2, with 12 new weapons, a shield rework with 5 shields with stats, and 15 new properties related to the specialization mechanic.

If you liked what you saw here, and want even more of it, look up Weapons Expanded Vol. 2.

Not bad. I like that it takes a lot of the power off of dex, though finesse weps should prob still add your dex mod to the attack roll, just not the damage roll. That way rogues and other dex heavy classes aren't heavily penalized for using a non spe [...]

While the idea of making weapon choice stand out more is a good one, this product falls flat in execution of that idea. It confounds the game by adding a large number of new weapon properties that are part rip-off of class abilties and feats that alrea [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
