Festive D&D Fifth Edition One-Shot for 3rd-Level Characters

This winter solstice, the elite of the sprawling city of Baldur’s Gate are throwing a soiree at the gleaming trade spire, Platomi Nakaza. Sure, dark forces are in motion, but aren’t they always? As a weary adventurer returning from the wilds, you’re just looking forward to an evening of posh nibbles, corporate luxury and chitchat. What could go wrong?
Welcome to the party, pal.

  • Totally 100% original plot (honest), twists, action, evil, nibbles, and puzzles
  • DM resources including maps, handouts, links, two unique magic items, and stat-blocks
  • Modular design approach so you can customise the adventure for your table on the fly
  • Suitable for beginners and veterans alike
  • 3-5 hours length (disclaimer, it's D&D, so...)
  • Works as a standalone one-shot or can be inserted into a campaign

Is this a Christmas D&D one-shot adventure? Who knows! Maybe? Feel free to weigh in in the comments. Also feel free to donate if you like the module. For 'tis the season, a time for giving, and blah blah blah ho ho ho!

*Note: Throwing your die too hard may result in fallen miniatures, spilled drinks, or a startled pet. The author accepts no liability.

Hi Tom and Dan,
I can tell you how I do it and if that doesn't work, it might be an issue with the website (and I haven't the foggiest how that bit works).
So, on Chrome, to the right of the thumbnail, there's a little grey PDF icon. To the right of that, there's a field where you can choose what to pay. You can actually put a zero in there if you want (no idea why on Earth you'd want to ofc!). But definitely don't leave it blank.
Then hit the red button (Pay what you want) on the right of that. After that it's a standard checkout thing (even if you use a 0). At the end of it, there's an option to download the pdf and all the maps and gubbins.
Good luck!

As a longtime Die Hard fan, I approve of this adventure- which in no way bears any resemblance to the beloved Bruce Willis action series. Filled with clever callbacks to the film, this feels more homage than making fun of. I love it.

Thanks man, that's what I tell myself about Die Hard 5, that it's more homage than making fun of :D

I have a mix of player levels from 5th to 10th level. Any advice to scale up encounters?

Awesome, yeah easily done. I'd start by looking at some alternative drow grunts from WotC (Drow Elite Warrior springs to mind, maybe chop off 25 or so HP so the players get the satisfaction of destroying a good number of them). I'd consider swapping Grans for something more challenging, maybe a Drow Mage or Arachnomancer (you can find these stat blocks online). As for the main villain (avoiding the name here because it's supposed to be a twist), I'd give them another few levels of warlock or, if you understandably don't want to fiddle about too much, just add about 50hp, another eldritch blast beam, plus 2 to hit and DC, and bend the rules to let them summon two undead simultaneously instead of one.
Because you've got a mix of levels, fine tuning encounter balance is insanely tricky, so probably best not to bother mate! Just keep your options open. If they're absolutely demolishing the encounter, perhaps have teams of drow grunts join the fray from behind at initiative zero when the area effects kick in...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
