Festival of Feathers

Suggested Price $1.99

It is time again for Vallaki’s seasonal festival. In the midst of the autumn harvest, Baron Vallakovich has taken the time to make this one the grandest of them all, ensuring that “ALL WILL BE WELL!” However, Lady Wachter, another political power in Vallaki, and her loyal followers have other plans for the Baron and his festival. The party of adventurers plays their part by ensuring the festival’s success and putting a stop to Lady Wachter's hostile takeover.

This supplement to the Curse of Strahd adventure is 2-4 hours and designed for 4-6 4th level characters. This adventure makes some small tweaks to Vallaki and replaces the Festival of the Blazing Sun Event found in the adventure.

  • A Printer-Friendly version of the document

Our group had a good time with this module.
Here is a free map set that I created for this module:

The big issue that I'm seeing on a read through is that there is a lot relying on the festival tokens in Chapter 1, with nothing about how the players first obtain them. Things cost a token to do to win more, but don't offer ways to actually get any to start off. And with several of them, it seems like there would be other prizes and such available to spend them on.

As another note, where stat blocks for NPC's are referenced, it would be nice to have book and page numbers for them just to make things easier there.

Hey Frank,

Thanks for the feedback! For the festival tokens, I forgot to mention that each PC should get 2 with their festival mask (I'll get this put in an update). As for the stat blocks, I included all the ones needed for combat, as some of the Curse of Strahd NPCs don't have stat blocks. If there are any specific ones you need I can get them added :)

With the NPCs, it's more of a mention towards page numbers in Curse of Strahd. If for no other reason than to glance over the other information on the particular characters that are there, and the page number lets them be found rather easily even if it's for a description of picture of them.

If you're looking to expand on them, it might also be neat to have a few from the Misty Suits and Empty Hearts adventures, sure it's a campaign intended for AL use, but I've been using them for a non-AL one since I wanted Ravenloft without repeating a CoS story. Being able to find the NPCs from CoS for that kind of thing would make it more useful in fitting it in.

Might also work to take a few of the common magic items and modify the effects thematically for the adventure as possible uses for the tokens. I'm more concerned about having certain players just ending up bored during that part of it and trying to move it on while others want to enjoy it. Having some rewards there for winning could make...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
