New Class- Bruiser

Suggested Price $0.50

Have you enjoyed the concept of a monk and their unarmed prowess, but wanted to play something with a bit more customization? Do you mourn at the lack of viable pugilist style options for Fighters and Barbarians in the official content? Do you like the freeform build structure of warlocks and other casters, but wished you had that sort of versatility on a martial class? Look no further! Suitable for characters of most any background, creed or race, the Bruiser gives you the rough-and-tumble feel of a frontline fighter, with high customizability, versatility, and a new class mechanic: Resolve.

Dive into the dozens of tricks, maneuvers and special moves, and build your character in whichever way your heart desires. Also included are three subclasses to give your bruiser extra potency, called Styles. Choose from the Swift Beatdown Style for speed and maneuverability, the Street Smarts style for more adaptability and out of combat resourcefulness, or the Weave-breaker Style if you wanna have a little bit of magical potency to back up your physical might.

Disclaimer: This class is still in playtest, and any and all feedback is appreciated. I am planning to adjust things if issues pop up in playtests, and will note said changes if I do edit it in the future. Happy Brawling!

So I just got and read most of the class and I just have to say well done. It's a really cool class concept and a well executed homebrew. I hope I'll get a chance to play it at some point. I only have a few things to point out for your consideration:

- The whole "Con mod + half level" for the Resolve pool could either be too much, not enough, or somewhere in the middle, but that's just my opinion on using a variable method, it could just be fine

- For the Opportunist ability, could they get 3 additional attacks if they crit with all three attacks (extra attack +bonus action)? Or is it limited to once per turn? You may want to clarify

- With such a high possible pool of Resovle at 14th level (possibly up to 12), Dauntless should probably cost 2 to use, not just 1, as it is fairly strong

- The wording for Apotheosis is a little confusing, but not incomprehensible - you may want to try and steal the wording from one of the similar Wizard abilities like...See more

Hi! Thanks a lot for your feedback, it's highly appreciated. A lot of the issues brought up are things that I won't be able to get a feel for balance wise until it gets playtested more (such as the amount of resolve, cost of certain tricks and Dauntless, Fleet of Foot movespeed etc.) I may adjust these sorts of things after some gameplay feedback at various levels of play, as this is still up to be re-balanced and edited in the future. for Opportunist, the original idea was to potentially have it work on each hit as a class signature damage boost (like fighter gets stats boosts to the number of attacks they do, or barbarians get reckless attack and Brutal Critical). I may have to adjust the wording and limit the number of times it can be used in a turn, but that's after seeing how it plays out since most of their ways of generating advantage are less assured than something like Extra Attack, even though they get an improved critical range at later levels. As for the Fleet of Foot, I may adjust the level you get...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
