The Reliquary

The Reliquary is a 2-4 hour dungeon for any level that will challenge your party's teamwork, compassion, and puzzle solving as they attempt to find the artifact hidden behind a challenge that only the truly good and heroic can best.

Drawing from some of the best fantasy tropes, where great magic is hidden behind traps that only the selfless and good-of-heart can solve, the Reliquary will force your team to work together, overcome their baser impulses, and defeat puzzles designed to confound the evil forces that would love to get their hands on the relic.

The twelve pages contain several NPC quest givers, a detailed description of the location, ten puzzles for both groups and individuals, advice on how to adjust the dungeon according to party size, composition, and level, and of course a suitable relic.

Hi Bryce - I downloaded this campaign to bail our DM out when our regular campaign hit a wall and I'm looking forward to running it. However, while I generally consider myself a decently smart person, I've read through the rules for Team Puzzle 1 a dozen times now and I don't understand what you mean. That map is almost completely blank and so I'm not sure how the team solving puzzle 2 assists puzzle 1. Can you clarify? Or did something get lost in the download?

I was stumped for a hot minute as well.
It looks like you first put the group for Puzzle One in the room corresponding to the number of players going into that room (even or odd).
At that point, they can work on it, but it is unsolvable.
When the team for Puzzle Two reaches their first endpoint, the doorway at the bottom of Puzzle Room One will close (if started with the Even Numbers map) or open (if started with the Odd Numbers map) and make the puzzle solvable.

I understand what you're saying here, but I must be missing something. For some reason my mind still can't get why the the even puzzle is unsolvable. One person can go through all the arches without double backing any arch while the other person of even group just stands around? It doesn't state that everyone has to go through an arch, and there is no indication where someone has to start or end up

This was my conclusion also. I was able to solve both the even and odd versions with a single person, not even crossing their same path, let alone the same archway. This is of course assuming the perimeter doesn't have archways all around, which doesn't seem to be implied.

If all gates must be crossed, and all characters need to make it to the far left or right sides, then the odd puzzle might be correct for 3 or 5 adventurers. One can still do that one alone.

It's eerie how much your challenges fit my players - I'm so looking forward to using it against them! Thanks so much!

I've downloaded this to use tonight and noticed within the beginning re: maps you say you're not an artist. If ever you want an illustrator, I'd be happy to work with you for free! The Reliquary and Igor's challenge are saving my campaign right now, so I thought I'd offer :) Excited to play through both! Thanks for sharing

Hey Grainne, thanks for the offer! I will keep you in mind, but I generally try to pay for the services I need, even if offered otherwise. Best thing you can do in thanks is leave ratings and reviews, and spread the word. I also do a podcast, www.marriednd.com or @marriednd if you want to follow or promote those things!

Thank you, I hope you and your party enjoyed it, if you've gotten around to running it! I had a blast running it myself, it's a unique session.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
