War is coming. Two nations have set aside their differences to fulfil their historical ambition: to reclaim a province lost long ago. As with any war, arms and armor are needed and who better to claim a long-lost armory stocked with Imperial equipment than the bold adventurers? Complicating the situation is the fact that the old armory is located near the ruins of the summer estate of Count Bekus, a necromancer who was killed, beheaded, burned and interred in a special vault so that he would not plague the world again.

I have folders set aside for the other two adventures in the Tholm campaign. Will those ever be completed, or did that particular campaign fizzle out?

I did run the campaign to completion, but the players "out ran" my writing speed. I do have all the maps and stats, plus outlines for all the adventures. I started work on finishing the next adventure in the series, and then had to jump in and run another campaign. Then another. And so on until I just started my Rel campaign.:)

When this campaign ends, I will see if I can finish Down the River. I got it about 80% done before I started a new campaign.

I can email you a copy of the unfinished Down the River, if you'd like-some people have been running this version.

Appreciate the offer, but no need. I'm just an obsessive collector of campaigns. I have 260+GB of D&D books and adventure modules, that I'm constantly adding to. Every once in a while, I'll be reading through my files, and discover I have something that's incomplete.

"Down the River" followed by "Hessel"; those are in the final stages of preparation. I've been focusing (perhaps too much) on cranking out those Mike's Free Encounters. I'll endeavor to get "Down the River" to the end of the river next week!

I keep getting delayed by meetings and mandatory training; but I will get the finished product up soon. You can email me at the contact email in Belmey and I can send you the rough version of "Down the River."

As written, 4-6 level 1 characters should be a good fit (it is a starter adventure). The encounters are designed so the difficulty can easily be adjusted by adding or subtracting the lesser monsters.

I ran it for 5 players, they had to be a bit careful and found it challenging, but not imbalanced.

Ok cool. I'm gonna try do it for seven lvl1s, so I might have to ramp it up a bit. Thanks!

Depending on the party adding 1-2 extra minor monsters per encounter should provide a suitable challenge. But one thing I have learned playing 5E is that adding even a few extra monsters can sometimes hit a weird tipping point at which an encounter becomes much more dangerous than the numbers alone would suggest.

If I find I have overdone it, I sometimes ignore crits against the party to offset my poor decision. Don't tell my players, they think I am the perfect DM. :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
