Dear Carter

I am writing you today to share the exciting news that I have released Rescuing Lulu from Elturel on DMsGuild. I am writing to let you know because your adventure, The Hellriders Keep, is cited throughout the adventure, fundamentally incorporated into Rescuing Lulu, and linked on my DMsGuild page. I would love for you to check out the adventure and would love to hear your thoughts if you have time.

Hi Hunter,

Thanks for letting me know! I'm honored that my work inspired you. I'll certainly be picking up a copy to read for myself. I also see that I missed another message from you, and I'm so sorry about that! If you have any more questions I'd be happy to answer them, even though I've appeared to miss the window.

Hi there, I bought this a while ago, setting it up to run now. Looks great, sure my players will love it! I'm just wondering - where exactly in Elturel is it? Is this the Keep of the Twin Suns that goes over the road at the gate or elsewhere?

Hey, thanks for grabbing this module! I hope you and your players enjoy it. This location doesn't exist on the map officially, I inserted it myself. My original thought was that it sat at the opposite end of The Garden from the High Hall. If you're unfamiliar, The Garden is the stretch of trees that runs North by Northwest from the High Hall. On the DiA map this is a pool of lava and fire, but in truth the location is not that important.

I hope that I got my answer in before your session!

Hey Carter. Love this adventure. I'm a fellow DMs Guild author working on an adventure and wanted to write you a quick email with a few questions. My email is jhill@naropa.edu if you'd be willing to shoot me a quick email, that would me much appreciated!

This is a good one to two session addition to the adventure that benefits greatly if Reya is still with the party or if any of the PCs are from Elturel. The Test of Elturguard was a little lacking IMO. It seems the test is easily passable by any who are of good alignment. If the modern Hellriders were meant to be of sufficient status to undertake the test it seems they would pass easily providing they were of good alignment. Ideally, there'd be a little more in here to make it feel like an actual challenge/ test and not just "good aligned chars may pass through" but GMs can create more test-like obstacles with minor work. Otherwise it's an extra interesting location, relevant to story with some non-game-breaking items as rewards. Very well worth the investment and a good product overall. The combat with the wounded Abishai is what makes this shine though.

Thanks for the review! I'm glad you got value out of the abishai fight (it's what I was most concerned about when publishing it). I agree that the Test of Elturgard is a little lacking; I had originally written it to be a way to ensure only certain characters in my party acquired certain items. It could have definitely used a revisit.

I am so glad that you enjoyed the module and thanks so much for your kind words, it means a lot.

This was in the VTT category, is it also available in Fantasy Grounds?

Hey there, I may be incorrect in the labelling. I did that because I included maps that I designed (and used on my own campaign) for Roll20. Each map is broken out into a marked and unmarked version along with being in the book.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
