Phandalin 022 The Ruined Abbey

ADD TO WISHLIST >
Suggested Price $2.00

The Ruined Abbey is the 2nd module in a new campaign arc dealing with the town of Phandalin and the surrounding area.  The module uses information on the updated town found in Phandalin: Return to Phandalin, but that module is not needed to complete the adventure.

In this adventure, the PCs are asked to investigate a problem with missing farmers trying to settle the lands around the ruined abbey only a couple miles outside of town.  Investigation leads to a Deathlock Wight and a setup for returning later when the PCs find a 'key' that opens a long-sealed doorway.

The module is designed for 2nd level PCs which will earn enough XP to reach 3rd level at the end of the adventure.  The playtest took 3 nights of play, but 2 nights should be expected.

You do not have to play them in order to enjoy the series. These adventures can be player as a separate module, but are designed to be played in order to make them flow better. Some of the adventure may need to be changed to fit your game.

I understand that but this comment ...

The Ruined Abbey is the 2nd module in a new campaign arc

Alongside the other module that was the second one [wave echo ghosts I think] also is confusing for me.

So I thought if you had a website I could follow the order laid out there?

The campaign series starts with The Missing Miners, then the Ruined Abbey, Return of the Redbrands, Castle Whitecloud, The Naga's Tomb, Wave Echo Ghosts, Search for Aurilsbane, Auril's Vault, and finishes with Waterdeep Walkabout- but this last one is only marginally connected to the rest.

Return to Phandalin and Wave Echo Lake were part of the previous campaign I ran that started with the boxed set Lost Mines of Phandelver. After the box set, we continued playing and explored some of the Southcrypt adventures and some others not posted. Wave Echo can be played at the end of the others with little modification. Maybe skip the Waterdeep one and continue with Wave Echo.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
