If I buy the PDF, will it give me credit toward the hardcover if I decide to upgrade for the combo later?

I honestly don't know. That mechanic is run by dmsguild/drivethrurpg. I do not see that question in the dmsguild FAQ. To make matters more interesting the previous community go-between, Lysa Pernrose, accepted a different job so I am not sure who replaced her but whoever it is they are not producing content that I can find. In short I don't know. Sorry mate.

When I attempted to purchase, it did not allow me to order the hardcover version. It only adds PDF. I couldn't get a hardcover ordered, so I eventually purchased the PDF. After reading it, I would love to buy the hardcover. Is this a problem anyone else is experiencing?

Aboleth Watcher (page 74) has a dnd 3.5 spell reference that I failed to fix. Remove: 2/day each: energy immunity. Replace that with an Action: Energy Immunity. The aboleth watcher is immune to one type of energy damage for 24 hours. If the aboleth watcher uses this action again then it is immune to a new form of energy damage and the previous immunity is removed.

(the idea is that it uses an action to be immune to ONE form of energy damage but can't do this twice and choose two different ones). I apologize for the confusion. This error was identified and I thought it had been fixed :)

On the state bloc of the Aboleth Watcher (on my pdf version (1.2) and on your thumbnail above, you have a 2/day spell called "energy immunity" which i couldn't find referenced in the book. So looking up the spell, seems like it is from the Draconomicon from 3.5? Is there a 5e version of the spell, or version of the spell you intended to list in the book?
Thanks for the great resource! I'll be implementing many of your critters in my campaigns.

Damn. I thought I fixed that. Yeah my mistake. It was supposed to be taken out of the stat block and then turned into an action. Every once in a while the old stuff creeps in and I fail to notice it :)

Yup that one fell through the cracks. Thanks for letting me know. In principle the critter can use an action to choose to be immune to one form of energy for 24 hours. Sorry for the confusion :)

Added: Verbal Components and Spellcasting.
If you use a spell with a verbal component and you cannot breath the substance you are in your breath is gone (this is the same mechanic I used in Breath Weapons). You are now drowning (water breathers can "drown" in air).
Thanks to Redit for asking this question :)

Are any types of underwear transport covered? Was thinking of just using Spelljammer rules if nobody has anything better.

Anything about transportation (submarines/bathysphere) rules? And maybe dive suits similar to LoZ’s Zora armor? Or maybe something like Bioshock Big Daddy dive suits?

The description blurb leaves out the transport issues, and was wondering about that before I commit to a must buy or wishlist item.

Underwater Campaigns mentions very briefly how diving bells work, but the tech is above what some DnD campaigns deal with so its left "for a DM to sort out." The only transportation in the game is the apparatus of Kawalish (spelling?). Underwater Campaigns goes into detail on how to maintain air (or water environments) with a utility spell, converts airy water to 5e, and discusses options for getting low level characters into the ocean. The biggest help is that by the time the characters are 4th or 5th level they have at their disposal all sorts of magical means of moving and breathing under water.
If your campaign deals with more technology there are a few sections on how to use ocean resources like methane hydrate and ambergris.
I hope this helped answer your question.

I’ll be honest, I really think someone needs to change this. Maybe even use Spelljammer like rules, that have a pocket of air or magic sand (hydrophobic) like air over the hull. That way you can use the Sea Jammer (or some better name) to get to interesting underwater locations, but occasionally have ‘We Need to Go Deeper’ like battles & having holes in the hull isn’t immediately going to TPK.

Dive suits that basically let the players fly underwater. Maybe some dive suits for floor bed walking, but I could see a clockwork Bioshock Big Daddy based monster working well.

Also, as a side note I was thinking maybe magical pollution could be a mechanic to mutate just about any sea creature into a nightmare of your own design.

I haven’t a head for mechanics & might need to just steel stuff from optional Spelljammer rules. Biggest things I’ll need to rethink are what kind of weapons would work best on an underwater vessel.

Sounds like you have identified a possible product that others would buy :) I wish you luck. I'd suggest looking at the old 2E spelljammer rules. I believe those are more of what you are looking at. The 5E version is very light on vehicle specifics. When it comes to game mechanics just start slowly and change a small piece. See what happens.

Looks like we are going to try and pay a guy to do a conversion of this into the format that dmsguild allows for print on demand. I hope this works :) I want a copy on my shelf also. More to follow I hope.

In short ... no :(
We learned many a thing the hard way when it comes to print. In short we would love to put this in print but in order to do so we would have to redesign it from the ground up in a different program. The good news is we learned exactly what not to do and our next work will be in a format that can be printed. As an aside I paid stupid money to do a 1 off print of something else of mine and it is very easy to see where the shortcomings are if you do not use Adobe's indesign. I would love to have this available for print but the labour involved is more than Marco and I can manage now seeing as we both have "real" jobs now. :(

We looked into print and we would have to recreate the entire .pdf in a different program. So it doesn't look like we will do that :( Its a possibility for the future though.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
