Rogue Archetype: Saboteur

Suggested Price $0.99

A cloaked figure slinks down a dark alleyway, and soon after the building behind it explodes in flames. A man hidden high in a tree watches with a grin as a flurry of spikes erupt from the forest floor, impaling a group of bandits. Saboteurs are experts at constructing traps and various other mechanisms and substances that allow them to create mayhem without placing themselves in direct danger.

This archetype tries a more unconventional approach for a rogue. The saboteur has a wide variety of traps at his disposal, that can be further augmented as you progress in levels, with various upgrades. You shine the most when you have the chance to prepare in advance of the fight, turning the battlefield into a killzone. However, even if you don't have the luxury of preparing the battleground, your tools are still as your disposal, deadly as ever.

Under the "Heavy Flechettes" upgrade for the Needlestorm Trap is says "The trap's damage increases by an additional 2 points at levels 3, 7, 11, 15 and 19." I may be confusing things, but if upgrades aren't available until Custom Blueprints at Level 13 would the damage increases for levels 3, 7, and 11 have to be retroactively applied, and be a +6 bonus upon selecting the upgrade? Thanks. Very excited to play this.

For traps like Blaster Bomb and the Smokescreen Canister, since they can be manually thrown, would they detonate on impact, then?

Hello
The traps aren't affected by the Sneak Attack feature. That is because most of them have an area of effect and it would be imbalanced to cause so much damage.

Is there a DC for enemies spotting your traps, or is that something we must come up with?

Sorry for the late reply.
The DC for enemies to detect your traps is
8 + your proficiency modifier + your Intelligence modifier.
I will update the class to include this. Thank you for pointing it out

So what is the Dex save throw? For the bombes? It just says when it fails but not what the DC is for a success

Hello! The DC for the traps can be found in the Trap-Making feature. It's equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
