Monster Manual (3.5)

Fearsome and formidable foes lurk within.

Encounter a horde of monsters armed and ready to battle your boldest heroes or fight alongside them. The fully illustrated pages of this book are overrun with all the creatures, statistics, spells, and strategies you need to challenge the heroic characters of any Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game.

Over 200 creeps, critters, and creatures keep players on their toes. From aboleths to zombies, the revised Monster Manual holds a diverse cast of enemies and allies essential for any Dungeons & Dragons campaign. There are hundreds of monsters ready for action, including many new creatures never seen before.

The revised Monster Manual now contains an adjusted layout that makes monster statistics easier to understand and use. It has 31 new illustrations and a new index, and contains expanded information on monster classes and playing monsters as heroes, along with information on how to take full advantage of the tie-in D&D miniatures line.

We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

seriously, there is still no product history write-up for this? not even to clarify that there was at least one 3.0-edition monster manual prior to it? bad enough that neither are mentioned in the MM II (3e) write-up...

eBay is abysmal and Amazon is even worse trying to find the 2012 "Errata" editions. Badly gouged prices for no good reason. PoD would be amazing!

This is my first DriveThru purchase. I have often been told that many/most of the PDF products have links in the table of contents and other places in the book, but I can't find any in this PDF. Are there none, or might there be something wrong with my PDF reading program?
I can click View and then Table of Contents, giving me a table of contents to the left of the reader that I can jump back and forth in, but there are no links in the text, which would make it far easier to jump straight to the monster I am searching for.

Update:
I still do not get why there are no links in the PDF, but I have found a solution for the PDF being too dark. Only some "reader programs" do that (at least Preview and IBooks) but some do not (like Adobe and opening the document on the internet (I am using Safari. I'm not sure how it is with other internet programs))

Can whoever created the pdf for this product check out the bookmarks? A number of them under the "Monsters A to Z" section have "OBJ" written next to the monster name, and while the bookmarks do work, that makes me wonder if perhaps there was an error of some kind when the pdf was built. All in all, however, this is a great release!

My copy seems to have that as well. As you said, the links still work. I wonder if that "OBJ" tag isn't a remnant placeholder, or some leftover tag from when the PDF was being proofed? Is there any way for you guys (the DNDCLASSICS team) to correct that? As it stands, it is a minor flaw, and would still not prevent me from giving it 5 stars (which I have done.) This book is excellent!

DUNGEON MASTERS GUILD STAFF
To the best of our knowledge this does have some errata updates. The 2012 reprint did have errata and this is a PDF version of that hardcover.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
