Greyhawk - City of High Culture and Low Life!

From the high towers of its grand universities to the rancid alleys of its darkest slums, the City of Greyhawk awaits you. Center of magic and learning in the Flanaess, Greyhawk is also the home of powerful thieves, mighty warriors, traitorous ambassadors, and honest craftsmen.
They all await you within the pages of this information-packed boxed set.

You get four full-size, full-color maps, each depicting a different aspect of the Greyhawk campaign. Two 96-page books give you a detailed overview of the city and a closer look at its more influential citizens - and its more notoriouus criminals.

Many detailed, colorful adventure cards provide players with short adventures in the city and throughout the surrounding realms of Greyhawk.

Note on the Print on Demand edition:

This version of the book has all of the elements of the box set into a single Softcover book.

We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content available on this website does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.

It is strange that this title gets a print on demand option but the main World of Greyhawk box has no POD option. Seems backwards to me.

If anyone has fixed the edges on the included maps and stitched together the pieces into full images I would greatly appreciate copies. The maps provided in the pdf were incredibly disappointing both in the fact that they're not full images and that the edges aren't even straight.

It’s a real shame that some lout is ordering the softcover PODs from here and then selling them on eBay for double the price.

Good, readable copy. Softback and well bound. The book comprises 'Gem of the Flaeness' (96pp), 'Greyhawk: Factions' (96pp), about 23 two-page adventures (each with maps/floor plans), then 16 pages of maps. All the maps are split up at the end of the book; a blueprint map of the city (showing waterways and cisterns), a color map (with the buildings colored and numbered on a light green background) and also an artists impression of the city in 3D, showing the buildings and probably used for general navigation. These would need to be photocopied, or printed from the PDF as they are all double-sided. Color cover art and another color piece in the middle and lots of good black and white art inside. I look forward to soloing my characters in this city.

Is this the box set that had the rules for 0 level characters?

The hardcover book "Greyhawk Adventures" has that set of rules included. I don't know about this one.

Got it today, PoD is fuzzy however readable. The ToEE I also got at the same time was much better.. The print was good also get the PDF so you can pay Staples or someone to print the maps for you. They are in the back of the book however can be a pain to access.

Does this have 4 printed maps, or are they simply digital?

If you purchase a softcover print on demand everything is there but like all of their products the maps are cut up and sewn into the book too.

Purchased this before reading the other review. Indeed it's not searchable and honestly the scan quality is worse than I've seen elsewhere ;(

Wait for them to fix it before you buy it.

As of the 01/12/2018 update, there are two versions available on download, the original and an OCR, text searchable version.

Is the OCR good enough to copy blocks of text to paste elsewhere? (I am thinking of Ream Works)

The new version has decent copy/paste tho not 100% but to be expected since it's OCR.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
