“This book needed a lot more of me in it. Instead, they completely rewrote my part and turned me into a giggling, tentacled grapefruit.”

—B. Holder, Aberrations Quarterly

“This book did not taste like a dad at all, and I have eaten a lot of fathers in my time.”

—Al Bare, Monster Report

“Thank goodness. This will get your father out of the house for a little while.”

—Camille Introcaso

Behold the power of my dad’s mind! Hey, my name is James Introcaso, and my father is pretty great. From the time I was a kid, my father created original stories using my toys. Now as an adult and professional game designer, I asked my dad to look at just the art of the Monster Manual. For every picture, I asked him how he thought this creature behaved, its history, and its name. Then I took this information and rewrote the Monster Manual according to my dad’s lore.

This book contains 80 new stat blocks and lore for original D&D creatures inspired by the art of the Monster Manual and Lucian’s imagination. Get ready to read My Dad’s Monster Manual.

I just got my copy in the mail and I already have several creatures picked out for the home campaign. This is very nicely done. A little humor, a little nasty, and a lot of quality. (I can't review because I have a publisher account, but definitely would give it all the stars.)

I was nearly decimated by a swarm of Chicktees... now they're my favourite monster! And if Chicktees aren't your thing, there are so many hilarious, dangerous and creative creatures in MDMM, that you're bound to find the perfect monster to throw at your players (all the while bringing a smile to your face due to the contents within being equal parts amusing and wholesome). I'd definitely recommend purchasing, the fun nature of the content was definitely appreciated by my players and I really believe you'll love it too!

I just got this today and am waiting for the 24-hr wait period on reviews, but this is awesome. It is exactly what I imagine would happen if I did this same thing with my dad, and the monsters are remarkably useful. It would be interesting to have various non-d&d people help create new creatures based on their interpretations of existing ones, I am imagining sitting down with me dad (duh), but also with an eight year old, or a five year old. The results could be, er, fantastic?

I purchased it and it is, by far, the best money I have spent this whole year. It is a breath of fresh air and a way to interpret pre-existing monsters that I love. My favorite so far has been the Basilisk re-imagination!

Just from looking at the preview I can say this is delightfully silly. Your father has a great mind, and I'll probably buy this when I have the chance just to have myself a giggle, if not use it.

Used to be I wanted to come back after death as a Flaming Skull crossed with Bob from the Dresden Files. This version would be the last headache I'd ever have.

Lovin' this book!

Please tell your dad he's a genius, and that you hope to be more like him as soon as you can.

LOL

I'm unable to review it on here as I did some playtesting, but I am so excited to confuse and delight my players and generally cannot say enough good stuff about this!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
