Version 1.0

• This is a conversion of over 770 4th Edition Nature Powers into 5th Edition abilities.

• The powers were converted from the 4th Edition Barbarian, Druid, Ranger (Some), Seeker, Shaman, and Warden

• These are designed as alternate rewards to magic items and treasure. They are similar to Boons.

• They can also be used to add flavor and combat options to Monsters and NPCs.

• Each Rank is about equal in power to a spell of the same level.

• These are not intended only for nature classes, but as rewards for any character looking to add more magical nature flavor to their combat options.

• There is a section included for converting each Rite into a spell of the same level.

It is part of a larger work in progress, converting Arcane IncantationsMartial Exploits, Divine Prayers, Primal Rites, and Psionic Exploits. As I finish the others, I'll link to each of them.

Hello,

Seeing as there hasn't been errata or a second printing of this book yet given the below, I do have a fairly major question. Based on some of the wording in the keywords section for the Bestial tag in this book, are characters in Wild Shape or while polymorphed unable to use exploits of any kind while transformed? For example, Weapon exploits do not even mention needing to have a weapon. Is this intentional or can characters still use exploits even while transformed?

Thank you.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've had to move fairly often for the past few years, so this has been on the backburner.

The idea of the Beastial tag is to allow anyone with a natural weapon, like a Wildshape or a Polymorph to use them. However, it could also just let anyone use them as long as it fits, having them briefly grow the required natural weapon, similar to the Primal Savagery cantrip.

As for the Weapon tag, it is intended to require a weapon to use, though that weapon could be natural or manufactured. They just weren't intended with Unarmed Strikes in mind. The updated version of the rules will be a bit more clear on this, since there will be suggested resource requirements to use Exploits.

Absolutely understandable, I admittedly wasn't expecting a response or even one this soon. Thank you very much for it.

Based on the original preceding lines that was my inclination and the absence of other keywords discriminating against Wild Shape or similar transformations; anyone could take them and use their effects as part of a melee spell attack specifically because all these Bestial tag explicitly mentions the Primal Savagery cantrip type of effect with limited transmutation for an attack. I appreciate the further clarification that Weapon keywords do in fact mean any "weapon" with any limitations or bonuses specific to them listed in the actual keyword.

Even in these yet revised books, you created probably some of the best content for this edition by giving it a lot more life and action it was missing. I wish you the best and that things become more stable for you, because this is great work you do and I hope to see more in the future.

Hi, not sure how frequently you check these, but I was wondering why you chose Intelligence and Charisma for the save DCs in this supplement rather than Wisdom? It seems like this would be perfect for a Druid or Ranger if not for that. I’m planning on giving my players that as an option, but I wanted to see if you had a deeper reason for building it like this first.

I actually think that's a typo. The save should be based on Wis or Cha if it has the Focus keyword, and Str or Dex if it has the Weapon keyword.

Once I finish Psionic Exploits, I'll be revisiting the others rebalancing the math, applying playtest feedback. And catching more typos.

I do appreciate stuff like this being brought to my attention, thank you.

These 4th edition ability conversions have been incredible and I'm floored by the work they must have taken. My players love the boons whenever I sprinkle them in too!
Out of curiosity, is there a plan for doing another book? I was mainly curious because of the Monks I've had in my games. I believe in 4th edition they were grouped up with the "psychic classes"?

Anyways, great work, and thanks again!

I'm currently working on the Psionic classes, which is where the monk will show up. The idea of them being Psionic is the Mind over Body philosophy.

I'm halfway done with that one and it'll be smaller than the others just because the Psionic classes didn't get as much attention. The progress is a little slow atm because of IRL stuff, but if you check out my ko-fi, you'll find previews of a bunch of the Psionic stuff.

Is susceptibility added before resistance is applied? It would be like numerical reduction which is applied before resistance. With Immunity would you apply susceptibility instead of the damage or roll both and use the lesser result? The second one is more clunky, but seems likely.

Susceptibility acts like bonus damage, so it's applied before Resistances, like other forms of bonus damage.
Example: Level 5 Firebolt hits a target with a 1d6 fire susceptibility. Instead of taking 2d10 fire damage, it takes 2d10 + 1d6 fire. Let's say that rolls a total of 16. If the target is also resistant, then it takes 8 fire damage.

If the target is immune then none of the damage goes through.

However, you could try letting just the susceptibility damage go through since it won't ever be worth much anyway.
For Example:
• Fire Elemental with a natural Immunity to fire damage and a 1d6 Susceptibility to fire damage from a Rite.
- Hit the Fire Elemental with a Firebolt, which it's normally immune to, but maybe the Susceptibility still does 1d6 fire damage through that Immunity. 1d6 isn't worth much so I don't think it'd really break anything, but lets the attacker feel like their attack wasn't totally wasted.

I apologize for three of the Monster Statblocks being kind of "blurry" and low-res. I was trying out a few different kinds of software for making the blocks and didn't notice the resolution issue until the books was finished. I'll be fixing those in the next version update. That won't be for a bit though.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
