Seems pretty neat; a friend of mine wanted to play Sharkfolk. Only problem I have with this is that it could overshadow the Lizardfolk race from Volo's Guide. Maybe a little over Triton as well. If I offered this at the table, no one would ever be Lizardfolk again

My understanding of Lizardfolk as a whole is that they are a bit stronger than most other races due to how much stuff they get. I tried to avoid that with the Sharkfolk as much as I can (originally they *did* have some natural armor; that was removed to balance them better), and from a balancing perspective I believe that the Lizardfolk is better than the Sharkfolk. There *are* similarities between the races; swim speed and bite attacks mostly. Sharkfolk get to just breathe water while Lizardfolk still need air but can hold their breath for an extended period, so that's a plus to the Sharkfolk certainly. However, Lizardfolk get a self-heal ability once a rest, plus the ability to create weapons during a short rest. Not to mention pretty good natural armor. Sharkfolk by comparison get a single attack at advantage and advantage on perception checks. These obviously aren't bad traits, but I'd argue the Lizardfolk's are much more useful.

When it comes to the Triton, I similarly don't think the Sharkfolk overrides them. Both are amphibious and have a swim speed, but Tritons get some useful spells, plus cold resistance is pretty huge as a decent number of things do cold damage in 5e.
