This is REALLY great stuff.
Anyone who has read or played through Tomb of Annihilation was probably a bit disappointed by the fact that Mezro, a seemingly very important city with a really evocative backstory, was little more than a short paragraph.
Well... Will Doyle & co have remedied that to great effect here. The book isn't so much a single adventure as it a massive box of ideas, few (if any) of which feel rote or uninspired.
Example: a troublesome undead dinosaur that swims around in the flooded ruins.... it has swallowed a music box so that soldiers plundering the place can hear it approach. The authors don't get bogged down in the mechanics, but any DM should be able to have A LOT of fun with that idea. Why is there music coming from underwater? Can the players hear it over their own rowing?
Lots of good ideas, absolutely worth the 5 bucks.
Oh and the map illustration..... definitely a crowd pleaser. Print it in full color and expect a reaction when you plop it down on the table.
